Here you and your family might find this interesting, it would support your side of wanting to be a vegetarian. Also people make a huge deal about protien, I mean look at other muscular and powerfull animals (horses, elephants, cows and many more) they eat nearly 100% grass and some other plants. Plant food has alot more power than most people think, if you are worried make sure to eat your nuts, legumes and eggs for protien. I am a vegetarian myself and I only eat small amounts of dairy and eggs even, it can be done. Take it slow it can be hard changing the way you eat, I started when I was 12 years old, I am 19 now and and now I am learning how to be total Vegan. I would never turn back now, I feel healthy and fit. I will give you a few links as well, maybe help your dad understand why you want to make this change, if he is not convinced.. personaly I would hold off till you are an adult. Good luck!

I think if you could present him with a clear idea of how you plan to eat that would help. If he understands that you are going to be very careful to make sure you are getting other sources of protein, he may feel better about it. Nuts, beans and dairy products are a great way to get protein. That will be your biggest challenge as a vegetarian. He certainly can't argue that fruits and veggies are very good for you. Just remember not to have an attitude with him about it, but go to him with a mature communication about your wishes. Good luck. :)

good for you! its hard at first, i was extremely afraid of what my family would think but they were surprisingly supportive. even my sister helped me cook veg meals. there was one point where my mom asked me not to be a vegetarian cause she was to stressed out to worry about the vitamins im getting, but that was just a really brief thing. i think u should right your dad a not explaining all ur reasons, including that ur digestive system actual faors a plant based diet and its healthier, and add some websights where he can look it up. slide it to him all nonchalant. you will probably have to do a lot of your on shopping now. i suggest you get morning star brand meatlss products. yum!
good luck!

my dad is the same way. try to catch him in a good mood. arm yourself with facts!!!!!! i swear, it really works!!!! if he knows and can tell you have worked and researched about this subject and you are willing to do the work towards it then he will 98% of the time respect you for that. but you can't be all winey like a 5 yr old, be serious about it. i know you can do it, girl! i know you can. just aproach him in a formal manner and tell him what is on your mind. trust me, once you get it off your consious everything will be great!

We are designed to be omnivores.Replace some of the meat with veggies, etc.How old are you? Old enough to stand your ground? Your mother's feeling on this? If you can dish up your own plate, can you SLOWLY reduce your meat level day by day? Best wishes: your Dad should know better.

I am a vegetarian and you can drink milk and eat eggs. I do. You should just try to tell your dad slowly that you want to be a vegetarian.

tell him the truth MAYBE he'll understand for once. If you are really scared to tell him in person, write him a note explaining your reasoning.
