Pal: You can have a major coronary and die on the table: Have six bypasses then make your decision. Or, you can just take that damn pack that you can't afford anyway and toss it away and toss out the lighter too, to show you mean it.
It isn't easy, you'll be climbing the walls let me Tell you. six weeks down the line you'll want one but you know what, your body will be clean. You know you'll be healthy, so don't start if you have, stop if you have,

The absolute key to giving up smoking is how you feel and think about it. If you feel like your missing out, deprived or that you have "lost" a part of your identity it will be much, much harder in fact probably impossible.
A previous person said their husband stopped being around friends who smoked. This might sound drastic (you don't have to cut them out of your life altogether if they're nice people!) but keeping away from them when they smoke is important. It stops you being exposed to triggers - reminders to smoke; times, places, certain events - prevents you feeling resentful about missing out.
It might seem silly to have those feelings but many smokers do. Once I acknowledged them and decided to change my attitude to smoking I gave up and haven't smoked since. I had uncomfortable physical symptoms for about a week but nothing more drastic than a mild chill. The benefits have been huge both health wise and financially. Oh and I don't smell horrible any more.

i was a smoker for over 30 yrs and i had tried everything that they have just told you to try, but none of that worked for me, i found this product online called 7 day smoke away, and believe you me, it worked!!!!! after just 7 days, thats right 7 days, i was totally smoke free, i had a few cravings the first week, but nothing i couldnt handle, and i have now been smoke free for over 2 years.depending on how long you have been smoking, the damage may not be too bad, for me most of the damage is now permanant and i have to live on oxygen and pills and treatments for the rest of my life.good luck to you and try the smoke away, it really is a miracle, but make sure you follow all the directions and do exactly what it says.

My husband used to be a chain smoker and never could stop. One day he decided he'd had ENOUGH and just simpley STOPPED. No more cigarrettes at all. He smashed and flushed the rest of what he had and wouldn't even hang out with his friends who smoked so that he wasn't tempted by it anymore. It's been years now and he's finally okay to be around people who smoke and he wants NOTHING to do with it! yay! And good thing he quit when he did cuz his lungs repaired themselves with no cancer or anything!
Anyway, he says to "quit cold turkey" as they say. Just stop. Of you try quittin one at a time or over a prolonged period of time you will relapse more often and it will only take longer.
He quit in one day and then just bought LOTS AND LOTS of gum and chewed it ALLLLL the time. It's not cool to smoke and chew gum at the same time so he MADE SURE he always had gum in his mouth! And not the sugary kind.
anyway,
good luck!
