First of all, nobody "gets" AIDS. One "gets" HIV which may progress to AIDS.

The ONLY way you could contract HIV through a nail scratch is if there were some *FRESH* (as in mere seconds old) HIV-infected bodily fluid (such as blood) on the nail and it *SOMEHOW* got into your blood stream.

If people are going around scratching you 'til you bleed, you have other things than HIV and AIDS to worry about....

the chance of getting AIDS from scratching is less than 0.3%. I will give you an example: lets say you got accidentally stuck with a needle that had AIDS, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C in it. Keep in mind, the needle didnt get actually injected, you just got punctured with it. The chances that you contracted the Hep B virus is 30%, Hep C is 3% and HIV is 0.3%. This means you should be more worried about Hep B instead of HIV when someone scratches you.
