It is possible but the needle would need to be tested soon after it came in contact with the virus and most labs would not be able to perform this test. Thus in a practical sense it is possible but not probable that you will be able to test a needle for HIV.

I think you may need to give more details on your question. Did you already use the needle and now your hoping it wasn't carrying the HIV virus. If so your S.O.L., but if you haven't then I would just get a new needle if that is what your asking. If I were you then I wouldn't be injecting myself with a used needle, or have someone else inject me with a used needle.

Unless the needle contained a little blood (at least a drop or two), then for all practical purposes, no.

Even then, you'd be hard pressed to find a lab, short of a forensics lab, which would even try.
