If they are very strict vegetarian, then bird nest is definitely not vegetarian for them. Anything associated with animals is strictly prohibited, bird nest comes from the saliva of the bird, so it is directly link to the animal. And where religion or non-killing of animal is concerned, this is also a no no as you are going all out to destroy the habitat of an animal for your own consumption. Making an animal homeless for the sake of your own personal gain is also a definite no as well. Suggest u can other gifts for your friend.

Ok - birds nest soup does not include birds, just their nests which are partially together with their saliva. As long as you are vegetarian and not vegan, I think it is fine. Either way, the birds are not killed for the nests, Nor are the birds eaten.

If you are talking of ingredients for bird's nest soup, the ingredient that holds it all together is the saliva and mucus from the bird's craw. I should think that it would be as vegetarian as gelatin as it is the same substance. The only real difference is that gelatin is made from cattle skins, hooves, and bones.

i'm a vegetarian. i would say it's ok if it's just the nest. animals are not good to give as gifts unless you know the person has wanted that pet for a while.that's a unique gift, i never would have thought of that. thanks for thinking of vegetarians, so many people don't. my dad still send me home with beef after family dinners.it is for my man, but i hate the smell on the ride home!!!

Hmmm... You definitely found something unique and kudos for that, but you might want to go in a different direction.
