If you're talking about wart viruses or herpes simplex 1 or 2, then of course, because most people are carrying some of these viruses, even nurses.

If you're talking about gonorrhea, syphilis or chlamydia, then I'd hope a nurse would have the sense to get these treated.

If you're talking about HIV or other blood borne viruses, then a nurse might be restricted in the kinds of procedures he or she can do.

It would be biased if the hospital didnt hire a nurse or health care worker due to having an std. Thats not a question i have ever seen on any application and i have been a registered nurse for 15 years.

Generally, STDs are transferred by sexual contact, nothing else. They're not contagious like a cold. So, why wouldn't a hospital hire someone with one? How would you get an STD from a nurse anyway? They have more to fear from patients, since some STDs, like AIDS, are blood borne and patients bleed.

There is a chance that there might be nurses with an STD working in a hospital, because they might not know that he/she has the STD, and I imagine the nurse wouldn't want to admit that they had it.

I think so. No one can discrimiante based on race, ethnicity, gender or health. They can however make another excuse for it. As long as the person is honest about the fact that they have an STD I don't think there would be a problem.

yes, that's not on the application. If they have a infectious disease that may be a problem. Also if you are getting hired for a job they cant ask you a question like that, it's aganist the law.

as long as you are cured you should be fine...but if it is serious they might not because they don't want to make anybody sicker....but otherwise, i don't think they would even know
