Being a vegetarian is a very healthy lifestyle but does not work for everyone. I feel sorry for the people that think killing vegetables is wrong, That type of thinking is for the very small minded. The horrid way they kill the animals in the meat plants can not be compared to picking a carrot or onion. Please wise up and do some research on topics before you make fun of something that you have no idea what it is about.

Everything dies. Grow a pea, if it is not eaten by something, it will die once the cold weather comes. And what is with the word "innocent"? So can a carrot can be guilty? Is a cow guilty?
I'm not certain of your point. I have been a vegetarian for 20 years. For me it was a moral issue to begin with, and then I learned more and realized that there were certain health benefits as well.
I have nothing against meat eaters. I don't challenge them anymore. I just want to be left alone to eat the things I want to eat without being hassled, and I won't hassle meat eaters.
Takes all kinds to make the world go round.

What's the point of eating meat?
I mean really?
On a side note--For those who say they do like to kill living things, I saw a T-shirt once that said "Do you know how many innocent animals had to DIE to make your STUPID cheeseburger? I thought it was funny.

Many choose to improve their health or to decrease the risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, diabetes, or cancer.
I am interested in becoming a vegetarian because I have been diagnosed with breast cancer and need to cut down/cut out foods with hormones, preservatives, and sugars. Those are all things that can make my cancer worse.
While I agree that the t-shirt is cute, why the cinicisim? How does any vegetarian hurt you? If you like steaks then eat steaks. Most of us are doing this for our own reasons, and what you do is your choice. Are you just looking for someone to pick on or what?

The "point" of being vegetarian?
Increased health, energy etc
Knowing you're not contributing to animal slaughter
Knowing you're making a difference to the environment
Those three things are quite big issues. Saying that, I don't have a problem with people if they want to eat meat, but I don't see why vegetarians should be attacked over their (very valid) reasons for cuttng meat out of their diet. Everyone is different, it's a personal choice it's about time we learned to live with eachother.

One of the fundamental Hindu principle is ahimsa i.e. non - violence which includes the non - killing of the other creations of God to fill once hunger. This is mentioned in the Hindu scripture, Thirukural which is internationaly acclaimed. Even for health reasons one is encouraged to be a vegetarian. Biologically veg eatables cannot be equaled to animals, they are not animals and cannot be animals because they lack the five sences which are common in all animals. Lastly there are no scientific documentation to show vegetables suffer pain.

GENESIS1:29-30. God is an unchanging God!!!Also check LEVITICUS.But that's not why I'm a vegetarian. My family has a history of health problems that can be traced to a long line of bad dietary decisions.I eat healthy so that I can live a life with less ailments than my predecessors. Its called thinking for the future.Maybe you've heard of it? Its a thing that's coming to a time and space near you. I 'd suggest you try to get ready for it because nothing can stop it!!!

Funny that's what I used to say to vegetarians myself! I've always enjoyed a steak.
Of course vegetables don't have a brain to process pain. Still, I can't imagine a lettuce being happy to be chopped!
To be ethical we should only eat synthetic pills!
BUT whether you care for animals or are cold to them eating meat is irresponsble.
With the grains you feed one cow 20 people could eat. Considering how many people die of starvation each year...
Einstein said that if all the world ate a vegan diet there would be no world hunger.
I think in the past animals used for food used to be healthy, have a life, then be killed. Now they are just born crammed into stinky metal crated barns, fed hormones to grow them fast and never allowed to see the light of day, nor breath fresh air. Because of the lack of light their bones are brittle and they're given antibiotics to fight infections. That antibiotics you end up eating. That's why new strains of antibiotic-resistant infections are coming out, our bodies have built up a tolerance to antibiotics beause we eat them at every meal, and when we need them because we're ill they don't work anymore.
Cows only produce milk when pregnant, so they are made pregnant all year round, as soon as the baby is born is taken away if a male, as no profit can be madeout of it. This way humans can suck up all her milk, and in fact they give her chemicals to raise milk production so that her teats become swollen and infected because too much milk is being produced and it's not natural. In a pint of milk you find blood and pus as a rule. Have some analyzed and see. I mean, cruelty aint't the word. How can it be healthy to gozzle down antibiotics and hormones, meat swelled up with chemicals? No wonder BSE happened.
Do you know what they cram into hot dogs and sausages? I think if you want to know why people go veg you should visit a meat production plant.
Of course I know being cruel or indifferent to animals' suffering and indifferent to their suffering is very trendy, makes you look tough and gives you a cool image. Not sure why!? Just being bullies to the weaker I guess.
But getting informed on the way meat is produced allows you at least to know what you're supporting and what you are actually putting in your mouth with your dinner.

There are many many health benefits to being a vegetarian. Especially if you have a history of heart disease in your family you should try not to eat so much meat and no red meat at all. A vegetarian diet can actually reverse heart disease.

plants (leaves, fruites, vegetables)can grow if they are used to cook food ,but to have a plate of flesh u cannot half kill the animal .the statement is just of no sense.
think logically
plants are provided with so much of seeds to continue the species,at the most an animal can give birth to young ones of say some1 to 8 at the most never in thousands.
