Many societies dont eat pigs because they believe pigs are dirty animals.

Pig meat possibly could contain worms that can infect humans, if the meat is not fully cooked. Other things, like fungi infections could be possible since they spend alot of time in feces and dirt.

Most animals do not have bad things that can infect humans, because their bacteria or viruses are not geared to attack humans.

I have alot of respect for people that are vegetarian. Although it is sad, humans do eat meat. If you go back to eating like a herbivore, make sure you eat proteins beans and oils, like olive oil. Just humans need animal meet to help make new cells. Although pig meat does not have a beneficial nutrient, it can be substituted for something else.

well you get more energy content from vegetables, everytime you go up the food chain, a person (or animal) looses 10x the energy in the original food, i do not know if a pig is the dirtiest animal.. but i refuse to eat them just because i dont liek the taste.

Didi you know that if Everyone was a vegetarian there would be no world hunger?? i learned that in Biology, i found it amazing.

Pigs. Nothing to do with being "dirty". however pork can harbor a worm which causes a disease called trichinosis. It makes humans sick with vomiting, diarrhea and fever. But it is in the animal's muscles (which is th part you meat eaters eat), not on the animal's skin.

There is substantial evidence that a vegetarian diet is healthier than a meat eaters diet. However, that doesn't mean that eating meat is unhealthy. Just eat it in reasonable proportions.

It depends what type of vegetarian you are as to how healthy it is. If you are a lacto/ovo/lacto-ovo vegetarian you are still getting animals fats, your cholesterol and heart health is no better than a non-veggie. If you are a vegan then you are healthier by theory. The important thing for a vegetarian is to get a well balanced meal and to get enough protein and iron from sources. And to answer the other question, pigs are as dirty as you and me.
