Board games, Scene It DVD, maybe get a band from the church or church group (music doesn't equal dancing). You could have a poetry slam competition, and you can even break out the Karaoke.

There is nothing wrong with dancing, as long as your not being freaky and degrading yourself. The bible says that David danced before the Lord with All his might, and he was a man that God said was after His own heart. Besides, we dance at church we think we're shouting, but its an old dance they did in the old days called the jitter-bug. People would leave clubs and go to church and the only dance they knew at the time was the jitter-bug. So don't be afraid to dance, its not a sin. Maybe the couples can come together and slow dance WITH THEIR SPOUSES.

Musical chairs is a riot with adults. The game "Spoons" is also a riot! It is like musical chairs, but with cards and spoons. There are a few variations, but my family pulls out sets of numbers from a regular deck of cards, equal to the number of players. For example, if there are six players, then we will pull all the 2's, 3's, 4's, 5's, 6's, and 7's from a regular deck and shuffle them up. Some people play while sitting at a table, but we get down on the floor, and sit in a circle. We place spoons in the center, within reach of everyone, but there is always one less spoon than there are players. So there would be 5 spoons in the center. The dealer passes out four cards to each player and each player looks at his own cards only. The goal is to get four of the same numbers. The dealer says "Pass", and everyone passes one of their cards to the player on their left, and picks up the card that was passed to them from the player on their right. The first person to get a set of four reaches down to snatch a spoon, and then everyone else has to get a spoon. The person who did not get a spoon is out of the game. The next round continues, but one spoon is removed from the center, and one set of four cards is removed from the shuffle. You can look up a variation of the game on Wikipedia; some people use the whole deck. Bluffing is part of the game, when someone fakes like they are going to grab a spoon, it causes everyone to panic. You can't touch a spoon until someone has a set of four. It is also fun to watch others play.
Charades is also fun. I spent a New Year's Eve at my uncle's church a few years ago (he is a pastor) and they did Bible characters/scenes charades. It was a lot of fun (and I am someone who would usually spend my holiday drinking AND dancing LOL!). It might be helpful to make up charade ideas on slips of paper before the party, in case people get stumped for ideas. They also sang songs (some people brought guitars, tambourines, etc).
If you do board games, Scattergories is a great party game, and doesn't put too much pressure on people to be the center of attention.
Have fun!

New Years is always a lot of waiting so you have to pass the time!!
We traditionally haul out the board games, and the card games that can be played in a BIG group or as teams.
Trivial Pursuit
Guesstures (that's the BEST!)
Uno
Jenga
Scattergories
Scrabble
Boggle
Most importantly, have lots of finger food around, and have fun!!

What about playing something along the lines of "20 Questions" with winners getting some nice, but inexpensive door prizes. Have a great time.

They have a Christmas version of Trivial Pursuit if you can find one -- lots of fun trivia. A little afterwards, but still fun.
Charades - have it pre-set with Holiday things (movies, characters, etc).
Everyone brings a little gift and exchange - for prosperity in the New Year.

I gotta go with games. Some of our fav's are Cranium, Trivial Pursuit, and Catch Phrase. All these games are great to play in teams, and the bigger the team the more fun you have:)

I would rent a karaoke set up - you may not dance, but everyone loves to karaoke!
Also - you could have multiple board games out for people to play - you could even set up tournaments.
Another idea would be to play Bunco!

Try movies w/ finger foods or games. Not boring old board games though. Try cards, or dvd ? games, trivia, etc.
