I ate vegan "chicken" salad at a restaurant, and it was great. I want to make it myself. It was made from soy protein, but my friend said you can actually buy the mock chicken ... I would like to know of a certain brand that someone has actually tried.

Te people who make Boca burgers and garderburgers bot make a veggie (probably vegan) chicken patty that's pretty darn good. Also, though it has nothing to do with chicken, I highly reccomend the morningstar corn dogs. You cannot tell the difference between them and real beef corn dogs.

I don't know where you live there, but here in Southern California there are quite a few Chinese markets that offer an extensive variety of not only veggie chicken but fish,& pork as well.

Morningstar Farms Meal Starters has a "chicken" variety, pretty decent.

Except I don't like to prepare it the way they say... I think it needs to be cooked a little more, a little drier and firmer than what they recommend.

Hope this helps.

MMMmmmmm Quorn chicken is delicious. It's actually made out of mushroom protein or something. But it tastes nothing like mushroom and actually quite meaty.

Yves makes something called 'Chik'n Strips' but I haven't tried them. There are many kinds of soy mock chicken out there but I've never thought of trying them myself. I once had some at a potluck (unknown brand) and it tasted like boiled sneakers.

Mock Chicken is a lunchmeat, made from pork. It's not vegan! I suggest visiting a higher-quality grocery store. They should have what you are looking for.
