you can purchase cuffs and stethoscopes at most drug stores. the best I think is one that goes on upper arm just above the elbow. You pump the cuff up to about 180 put the stethoscope on inside of elbow. Slowly release pressure (bulb with turn knob on it) When you hear the heart beat you take that number which will be the top number, then when you can't hear the heart beat you take that number which will be the bottom number. That gives you your blood pressure.

Hi there !
Best option available is to use the "sphygmo manometer",
ie: the "mercury BP apparatus", and learn to tie the cuff yourself...and
checking the reading with the stethescope is easy..agree.??(I am doing it since the past one year..can you believe..?)
Though there are "electronic BP apparatuses" available, which can be tied on the "wrist" and reading taken...my assurance to you is that..it will NOT give you the correct reading...and it will never tally with the mercury BP apparatus reading..
So follow the rule....."old is gold".....because health is after all precious..right ?
best wishes..

I would recommend that you go to your doctor's office. Second best choice the b.p. machines in the corner of the store such as King Soopers, Walmart and Safeway. The last resort the ones you buy.
