I worked in 2 chinese restaurants and at both places my bosses said that the 'ts' grouping is pronounced 'ch'. So technically it sounds like General 'Chow'. But so many people say it wrong I got tired of correcting. Also the chinese beer we served 'Tsingtao' is actually pronounced 'Ching-Dow (as in wow)'. So that proves the 'ts' thing too.

make a small t sound with your tongue behind your teeth so you can easily move to the s sound like 'ssss' a snake. the O is pronounced like 'ow' as in ouch i hurt my finger.
