Babies are obligate nose breathers (which means they really only try to breath through their nose), that is why they don't eat well when they are stuffy. Try little noses saline drops and bulb suctioning her nose ( the bigger the bulb suction the better, if you still have the one from the hospital use that one). When his/her nose is cleaned out then try feeding.

Hi I'm a Respiratory Therapist and mom of 4~ Here's my recommendation Little Noses Saline drops are great alothough baby won't like it it will help mobilize the mucus. You can use a bulb syringe to suction the mucus out. close off the nostril you aren't suctioning to help it be more effective. It may seem like your taking the babies breath but it just startles them and is perfectly ok. If you blow on their face they will catch your breath.
As for the guy who said go to the DR and get ALBUTEROL (correct spelling) Please don't. If your baby just has a stuffy nose Albuterol is NOT the cure. The cardiac side effects of it are not worth using for a cold. Yeah it will dilate the airways and help baby somewhat breath, but it also makes the heart race and beat faster etc... Why do that when its not the best solution?! Albuterol was not created for that, its just become a "fix all" and that is one of my pet peeves in my profession.....
Anyway, try the little noses, bulb syringe and a cool mist humidifier wouldn't hurt. Let baby sleep in a swing or something that keeps him propped up. As for eating as long as he's eating some and not getting dehydrated (sunken eyes and very minimal pee diapers are signs) its ok for a day or so. This is the first of many colds. It gets easier as they get older but its still never dfun to see your child suffer. Email me if you need more advice or if baby is a preemie~ there are other things to worry about in that case.

My baby just went through the same thing. They don't give medications when they are that young, but there are some things you can do to help. You can use a humidifier, they have cold steam humidifers now if you prefer. Baby Vicks VapoRub is great and really seemed to help my son. Also, Little Noses saline drops is what our doctor recommended. Spray once into each nostril and then suction out. After a couple of days of this treatment, my son started to feel like himself and his appetite picked up again. Good luck!

First off.... I would try to avoid any medicines on a 2 month old, unless your pediatrician oks it first. But, they do have Baby Vicks Vapo-Rub, you could try to gently massage it on your baby's chest and back.(It helps not only with the breathing part, but it is also a great bonding experience for you and your little one. Plus, it provides baby with a huge sense of comfort and security.) Also, try feeding your baby a little more upright if at all possible. Not laying flat on the back, and make sure you never prop the bottle up with anything, especially when they are that little. Also try a cold-mist purifier. It works a little better than a steam humidifier, and it is way more healthy, since with lack of heat, germs and mold, etc have WAY less of a chance of forming and breeding. Good luck.

Stop the congestion first! It could be from improper nursing/position while taking her congestion.
My grandson had congestion, earaches and ear infections. Finally, one doctor told my daughter that she probably is not propping him up or holding him up as he takes his bottle! The milk was seeping into his eustschian tubes ("a bony and cartilaginous tube connecting the middle ear with the nasopharynx and equalizing air pressure on both sides of the tympanic membrane.") Universal Encyclopedic Dictionary. The mild then caused an infection. Once she held him up or propped him up properly, the infections, congestion and earaches stopped!!!! After those stopped, he ate VERY WELL!

Plenty of drinks should help see what ever she will take, maybe some baby Camille tea, or just warm per boiled water. You can make your own saline drops for the noise, its just boiled water and salt, but it in a drippier and use it to clear her noise, and put a steamer in her room.
Hope she feels better soon.
