He needs to develop his lungs and this is the right age. Get him to join swimming lessons. He will get over this problem for certain as he grows up. Also, see if you have to give him more Vit-C supplements to combat cold related infections. When you are next at the Pediatrician's, ask for ones that suit his age.

Day care, if he goes there, is a constant and repeated inoculation with every cold germ infecting anyone on the planet.

Exposure to cigarette smoke depresses their ability to fight infections, and the child might end up being more susceptible to colds, cough, and ear infection.

Little ones just don't have a lifetime supply of immune system antibodies like adults have. Every infection is a brand new deal to their bodies, which have to train themselves to fight even common viruses and such. You notice as the child gets older, and his/her immune system develops, the colds will become more infrequent and less troublesome.

Wheezing could be asthma. Does the child wheeze only when also sick with a cold or cough? At night? During or after exercise? Nobody in this forum is qualified to diagnose the child without an exam. If your child frequently has wheezing attacks, you need to have his pediatrician look into it.

My nephew's pediatrician told us that if it's wheezing, you need to get it checked as it might be asthma, which could be bad if left untreated. Asthma could also be indicative of a sensitivity to allergies in your boy. On the bright side, many kids with asthma don't have it anymore when they grow up into adults.

Another possibility is he's catching different bugs from other kids at childcare, which is normal and common. It's not much to worry about unless he gets feverish.

Still, I'd say asthma sounds like the most likely culprit. Get him to the GP.

All of the answers I read sound ok. It probably wouldn't hurt to go see a naturopath (my 2 kiddies are both cared for by one) just to make sure there's no underlying problem. If there is, it'll get treated. As well, a naturopath can help you boost your son's immune system, probably with things like echinacea, olive leaf extract, stuff like that. All very natural and very safe, and my kids are thriving on it.

Ok....make sure he's current on his immunizations, and wash his hands often. Or use hand sanatizer!!! It's waaayyyy easier than chasing him around and getting him over to the sink and washing his hands all the time. Also, make sure that he's got his feet covered when i's chilly. Also be sure to check with your pediatrician, because he might have some allergies to something in either your home, near your house/at daycare, or to a food or something. Good luck!

Does he go to a nursery?

does he have any siblings?

Our GP told us that we could expect our children to have coughs and colds probably every six weeks due to exposure from other children.

take him to GP if he has fever ,is violently sick or will not eat or drink very much

You should get your son checked out for croup A.S.A.P. It is usually mild but can develop into pneumonia in rare cases so it is worth seeing your Dr.
