My Doctor advised me to undergo CT scan for my sinus problem. As it is close ‎to our brain, I want to know if there is any health effect of the radiation. Could ‎this possibly laid for memory loose? Any advise please!‎

To get a clear understanding of CT scans for diagnosing sinus problems, go to the following site:

It gives you the basic information with graphic pictures. It will also help you understand how allergy problems can treated to prevent future nasal problems and sinus disease.

Doctors don't order CT scans willy nilly. You must be having symptoms persistent enough or severe enough to warrant this type of test. Yes, there is radiation exposure with a CT scan but not enough in just one scan for you to worry about.

CT (computed tomography), sometimes called CAT scan, uses special x-ray equipment to obtain image data from different angles around the body and then uses computer processing of the information to show a cross-section of body tissues and organs.

CT imaging is particularly useful because it can show several types of tissue—lung, bone, soft tissue and blood vessels—with great clarity. Using specialized equipment and expertise to create and interpret CT scans of the body, radiologists can more easily diagnose problems such as cancers, cardiovascular disease, infectious disease, trauma and musculoskeletal disorders.
