YES! To the hospital AND a good pulmonary specialist!! I was Dx'd with COPD and GERD (gastric reflux up my esophogus and leaking into my lungs) last year after a lifetime of pneumonia, asthma, bronchitis, colds, etc., I finally ended up in the hospital last year for 12 days. They vacummed out my lungs--got lots of pflemm sp? (guck) out and gave me lots of Prednisone and Protonix (which made me lose my memory). But my pulmonologist gave me the KEY to it all!!! He told me to get a cinder block under my bed frame and sleep on an incline!! Plus antacid even tho' I never did feel "heartburn". This prevents the reflux 8-hrs/night and the GERD! 4" with the block laying on the floor under my bed frame worked PERFECTLY for me!! Great health every since--no colds, coughing, etc.
Please give it a try--can't hurt and you stand to gain a LOT!

Get ye to a doctor. Anytime you cough up blood, unless it's due to stress on blood vessels when coughing, is extremely serious.
