For a correct level of cholesterol, you will be asked to eat and drink nothing overnight until your test the following day.
The test involve using a syringe to withdraw a small amount of blood which takes two minutes. You get a swab of cotton wool to press on the pin prick area and a plaster which you can take off that day. You may get some bruising though it'll not be anything to worry about. Then you wait until the results are ready which may be up to a week.

You can of course simply have a blood test done without fasting to get a general idea. If it is high you may need then to have the fasting test.

Hope that helps.

Most generally, cholesterol is checked by simple bloodwork. You'll probably have to have some blood taken (a major minus if you don't like needles) and the blood will be analyzed in a lab. Pretty simple, doesn't take much time at all. Depending on whether the blood needs sent to a lab, or the doctor has a lab in-office will determine when the results come back. Then the doc can go over the results with you, and discuss any adjustments that may need to be made in your lifestyle.

Hello yukino

Your doctor can schedule a test with a lab. You should not eat or drink anything for at least 12 hours prior so as to get the best results.

The test itself is a one minute procedure, its a small pinch and some blood will be drawn and the results are normally ready is 24 hours.

Nothing to worry about as far as the bloodwork, you are better off being concerned about the levels of your cholesterol.

Anyway, from the time you go to get the test untill you leave is about 30 minutes if you have an appointment, when I went it was first come first serve so I went early and it took several hours.

good luck with the results

It is tested from your blood. I get my cholesterol number every time I donate blood at the blood bank. The blood bank has the results in 24 hours.
