Yes. But the fact that you have to ask if it is high makes me wonder how you got the reading--if you were in a doctor's office, they certainly would have told you.

Did you use one of those machines they have at drug stores? Or do it yourself otherwise? In that case you may not have an accurate reading. It's time to schedule a checkup with your doctor and have it checked by a pro--along with all the other things you should get checked at your annual physical.

Blood pressure measurements don't count for anything if you've been walking around. Ideally, you should be sitting down for at least 5 minutes or so. Blood pressure also can vary during the day, so it's best to get measurements from similar times during the day. No caffeine in the morning either. These measurements should be repeated on a few separate occasions. Some people get "white coat hypertension" when they go to the doctor's office because they are nervous. Probably blood pressure medicines wouldn't kill you. But you don't necessarily need blood pressure medicines if your blood pressure is only high while active. When doctors study the effects of high blood pressure, they study the effects of people who are diagnosed with it as described above. You are probably at no higher cardiac risk from your blood pressure.

Yes, that reading qualifies as hypertension or high blood pressure. What you need are a number of readings done at different times of the day to see if that level is consistant or a one time elevation.

That is a fairly high reading. But do not go by one reading only. The determination of high blood pressure, is several readings over several periods (you will always have peek times). Your lifestyle and family history will also dictate if you will develop high BP. Being overweight, diet and if you are african american will increase your risk (African Americans for some reason have higher rates) Do not waste any time and have your doctor check you over...there is a reason they call it the silent killer.

hi there !
well the normal range of blood pressure is up to 140 over 90 and anything byond that is considered as high blood pressure for any reason ( there are many reasons for it), so the best advice is to see your doctor to confirm that it is hypertension and then to find out the cause so that he/she can treat it...

get well soon
ciao

Yes, stop salt, drink plenty of water, cut back on unhealthy foods, no alcohol or smoking and start walking every day.

Get moving, take multivitamins. Drink diluted cranberry concentrate (16 ounces makes 2 gallons of drink). This will flush the poisons out of your system.

Good Luck. Google High Blood Pressure and read about it.

The systolic is not too bad, but the diastolic is high. That makes you a hypertensive.
