There are no vitamins that can bring down your sugar levels, only prescription drugs.

No vitamin brings down blood sugar - if it did then it would be a whole lot easier to treat diabetes than have people inject themselves with insulin several times a day.

Insulin is a hormone which acts to reduce the level of glucose (sugar) in the blood. It is naturally produced in the body but some diabetics are unable to produce any (or enough) which is why they need insulin injections.

UPDATE for answers below: neither Chromium nor cinnamon are vitamins (and they don't do anything significant for blood sugar levels either) - do you really think people would be injecting if they could just eat a spice or a metal instead?

The answers that recommend cinnamon or chamomile tea are doing a great disservice to someone with a morning blood sugar reading over 300. That is dangerously high and is way beyond being brought under control by simple home remedies. Your husband needs an immediate adjustment to his diabetes medicine. If he's on insulin, he probably needs to increase his dosage. If he's not on insulin, he should seriously consider starting. Naturally, anything as serious as changing dosages or prescriptions can't be done without consulting with your husband's doctor. He should schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Vitamins have no effect whatsoever on serum glucose. What does reduce and control glucose is strict diet, exercise, antidiabetic medications and insulin.

FYI: While chromium, a mineral, functions as an essential component of the organic complex GTF (glucose tolerance factor), which stimulates the action of insulin and while insulin resistance shown by impaired glucose tolerance has responded well to chromium supplements, if the cause of elevated serum glucose is due to insufficient insulin, chromium won't help.

cinnomen, the pure stuff from a heath food store, is supposed to help you controll it but there are not any that will actually bring it down. All you can do is balence your excersize and diet and insulin. have you tried Humilog?(i think thats what its called) its faster acting than Humulin-R. you take it after you eat. it starts working after 15 mins and is out of your system in 2 hrs. Works well if you forget to take your insulin befroe you eat alot. but it is more costly.

Vitamin E was thought to improve glicemic control, but studies did not prove that effect.
Vitamin supplementation is good for diabetics but don't count on it to lower the blood glucose.

They wouldn't, but some people claim cinnamon works for them. They sell cinnamon casules in many health food stores. Diet and exercize, oral meds and insulin, are the best and truest ways to decrease blood sugar levels.
