It really depends on who your company is. If it's informal, friends or family only, I would say "very cool!" Go for it. Also, tell your wife she gets an "A" for her creativity! I love that idea. Your friends and family will appreciate her idea and it can even become a conversation starter. As I said, it soley depends on WHO is visiting and formal or not formal.
If it's someone you don't know too well, someone from your work, or even someone like some of these people here that totally didn't like it and called it tacky, etc., then you would need to use something different. Ya never know! There's alway someone who is so worried about style and 'keeping up with the Jones's', and they would surely take offense. So for those who are very much into, you may have to come up with a different idea.

Well as long as you make sure it's against a wall since ironing boards are know for tipping over. It could be a neat conversation starter, tension breaker, especially if it's a formal occasion where people are already coming in feeling a bit nervous. To make things interesting, make sure the iron itself is nearby and offer to heat up people's food plates with it if they get cold. I'd think it was great and that you were very cool, funny people.

The others in the trailer park will think you are rich. Just kidding...I would not use the ironing board, that is tacky. Do you not have a small card table to drape the table cloth on? Dress it up with some greenery too.

I wouldn't worry about ettiquette. Be sure the ironing board can't unexpectedly collapse and check out the way it looks to see if you like it. You could put something on top before the cloth to even out the shape a little. Be creative and don't worry about what someone else says is proper.

I think that's a brilliant idea! Especially if you have cramped quarters, what better than decorating what you already have?? Unless the friends and company are snotty, I bet they'll get a creative inspiration!
(Put the leaning side of the board towards the wall and try to anchor it well. I've never thought of this! We have a small house and that would work PERFECT.)

If it is covered properly, and doesn't look like an ironing board, it would be acceptable. Personaly though, I would allways recommend using something a little more substantial. Just make sure that it is safe and can't easily be knocked over.

Depends on how much food is going on it. But def creative. Sometimes you just got to work with what you got and with the table cloth over it no one will notice.

Not cool. Unless it's supposed to be some kind of joke between you, your wife and your company, it generally wouldn't be regarded as good etiquette.... You could always claim it was a domestically themed dinner party...
