all pasta's are made from the same ingrideinds. What is so special about spagetti shaped pasta that makes it far more popular than the others?

Because it is a common dish people like to eat. It is eaten all over the world. Only italians eat the others like Fetticini.

I think in an American's life, they are first introduced to pasta in the form of spaghetti and macaroni (which, for some reason, people think of a noodle instead of pasta).
So many people don't cook (or cook only very basic foods) and spaghetti with a red sauce is familiar and easy. Are they too scared to buy a box of farfalle? I guess so. It would taste the same with that jar of Ragu, and it would even hold the sauce better, but too many people stick with what they know. What a shame.

It's familiar. It was around in the US before other pasta shapes were. Even when other pasta shapes arrived after WW2, no one knew what to do with them!

Spaghetti is a very cheap meal to make but I believe that we choose spaghetti over all the others because we have eaten and loved it since we are kids. That is a childs favorite dish. Agree? But what about maccaroni and cheese

because spaghetti is become an image for the other kind of pasta. If we want to eat a fettuccine,ravioli de carne,etc. we must be say that spaghetti.

I think it's easier to make than other pasta dishes. It's also easier to eat. make the spaghetti and the sauce, add meat if u wish, mix together, twirl on fork, and eat. See, simple.

For me, it is just easier to make and my kids like it. No other reason except I am too scared to try to make Lasagna for example.
My daughter loves cold pasta salad and the way she makes it, sooo good.

I can answer you...........I am an italian and I am writing from sicily..............speghetti is a kind of pasta, and it's not true they are far more popular than other types of pasta..................... maybe in america, not here in Italy...................... maybe spaghetti are better because they cook very fast, and you can season them with everything you want.................Here in Italy there is a big tradition about pasta, and for every seasoning you have to put a specific type of pasta...............anyway appetite comes with eating

i'm italian and i don't think in italy is the most common... i don't like spaghetti i prefer "short" pasta...easier to eat...
