Christmas is a global Event, not a Christian only, don't be jealously guarding it as that.

Christmas is an adopted holiday - the Pagans had Saternalia, which was a period between December 17 and December 25 and involved gift giving. Christmas does not actually have anything to do with Jesus or his family and was taken as a convenient way to convert people, given that they were already used to celebrating /something/ at that time of year.
There are some other ideas behind Jesus not being born around this time:
* The shepherds were out sleeping with the sheep. In December, it was the middle of winter - it would have been cold and raining, the shepherds would have most definitely been inside somewhere, in no position to see any glowing stars.
* Being the middle of winter, it was certainly not peak tourist season. Yet, when they search through an entire town, Mary and Joseph could not find a single place to stay. What was the special occasion, in the middle of winter, such as that all rooms were booked out?
* In the first 200 years of Christian history, no mention is made of the calendar date of Jesus' birth. None. There was no inkling of an idea of the potential concept of celebrating it until at least the year 336

people ant ruining christman they are waking up christ has nothing to do with christmas its a pagon hoilday actual its a old roman pagan holiday called the invincible sun that was held on that date to celebrate the return of the sun after passing of the winter solstice on december 21 its actual a celebration of agricultural and solar observances at mid winter .the church came up with the ider to combine the two together so that people (pagons ) would except the new religion of chrisitanty so they merge the two together and before you know it we are worshiping a false god in the midst . the bible does not tell us what day jesus was born on but it does tell us what season he was born in look at luke 2 :1-8 ok here is the big one luke 1:36-43, 1 CHRONICLES 24:7-19, luke 1:5, luke 1 :23-24 . the break down of this john the baptist was conceived in june or july according to the scripture info so he would have been around march or april . john the baptist was born 6 months before jesus jesus would have been born around september or october jesus was conceived around december 25 or so not born .. these are biblical facts about christ jesus birth and around the time he was born . it is evedent that he was not born in december so then why do we get upset when some one tells us this ? is it because we dont wont our kids to know that there really ant a santa clause so it doesnt make us a lier and our parents and grand parents and so on cus it will break our childrends little hearts but thats the power that satan has over us is our love for our kids so we hide the truth even if we know its the truth what some one says about chrisitmas. now in going to give you some shocking facts about christmas read these verses here we go , 1 corinthians 11:1-4, 1 corinthians 10:21, deuteronomy 12:29-32, deuteronomy 12:2 (learn about pagans and evergreen trees that will help you also )1st kings 14:22-23 , psalms 37:35,isaiah 57:5, jeremiah 3:6 , jeremiah 10:2-5 , and this is a good one leviticus 14:33-39, 1king18:21 1corinthians 10:21. this is just some there are many ,many more and yes me and my family bump heads on this one too . o yea i almost for got that nativeate scean you got in your front yard you might want to seperate the three wise men from jesus set them back aways out for they didnt find jesus intel he was around 1 or 2 years old they werent there when he was born at least not the jesus thats in the holy bible . the inter net is a wonderful tool

Hell, why did they use lights instead of a globe? The reason for the season is the tilt of the earth on its axis, in direct relation to its position in orbit around the sun...
Or you could just get over it. A town has no business putting up a nativity scene, unless its willing to put up a menorah, or any other religions symbols for that particular time of year. If you're not going to give all faith's their due, then keep it to "happy holidays".
There is no "persecution" of christians going on. They just aren't getting their way any longer, at the expense of those who don't agree with them. Telling someone who disagrees to just go along quietly is more of a nazi tactic than what the other faiths are doing: using common sense and the legal system to prevent any one group from calling the shots. Its funny...some people will demand "freedom of religion", but only mean it when they benefit.

Separation of church and state. Just don't do it on government property.
As for the Xmas comment..... it has nothing to do with the evil heathens taking away your Christ. It's been used for quite some time and it's thought that the abbreviation was used to save money on printing books and it started in the 16th century. It probably originated in the church from the greek letters for Christ. Please, please educate yourself about your own religion before making such comments

It is the signs of the times which we now live in. Just embrace the fact that each day brings us closer to the return of Jesus for His church/ bride. Prasie the Lord!! God will have the final word with these stupid people.

Sweetie why don't you go and buy these items and put them in the park where you want them. What a beautiful thing that would be for you to do for your community. Don't let those governmment people tell you no. You go ahead with tradition. Jesus never did anyone any wrong and He should be the most important. God Bless You for caring.

It is called being politically correct. I think it's wrong , however, they are simply trying to straddle the fence. They want to celebrate Christmas, after all it is a day off of work with pay. Yet they want to show impartiality to any faith, which is a crock. But like I said it is all done in the name of PC. Personally I think if you do not wish to celebrate Christmas you should not have a problem with doing an honest days work for the money you are getting. But that is just me.

seems as though the politicians are so afraid of offending someone they are letting a few dictate to the majority. I have no say in what goes on in any community other than my own vote wise but if enough people would make their wishes known then things would change ( hopefully for the better ).
