burping or farting? I dont wish to sound crude but my nan finds farting highly offensive yet when it comes to a good old belch she beats them all, you know the ones that are so loud you can see her tonsils rattle she finds it very amusing!! "Just wondered?"

A Burp after a meal is Considered Respectful to the Hosts at Meal-times in Some Countries(That's why she feels the way she does!)
The Other is Kind of Bad taste at any time-Even more so at Dining Tables!

I think farts are ruder, but in our house we (for the most part) all just find them both hilarious.
I think it's cos farts are usually followed by foul stenches, whereas burps, though sometimes smelly, aren't as bad smell-wise.
In general society though both are gross.

I would have to say farting would be more offensive simply due to the awful odor that comes with it at times.

I think farting is more offensive, and people are so darn shy to do it, then when they do they think its hillarious. Farting stinks burps go away pretty quick.
