In Catholicism, the Pope has a very important role. From the moment that he agrees to be the Pope, his job has begun. Here is what he has to do.
After the Pope is elected, he meets with the Cardinal Deacon, the Secretary of the College of Cardinals, the Cardinal Dean, and the Master of Papal Liturgical Celebrations.
The Cardinal Dean asks the elected pope two questions:
1. Do you accept your canonical election as Supreme Pontiff? If yes, then he asks the second question.
2. By what name do you wish to be called? For example, the current Pope took the name Pope Benedict XVI.
The Master of Papal Liturgical Celebrations certifies the acceptance of the Pope and his name. The Pope now is the Bishop of Rome. Being the Bishop of Rome means he has ultimate power of the Catholic Church.
Every Cardinal that voted visits the new Pope and honors him to show obedience.
Traditionally, the oldest Cardinal from the conclave goes on the balcony above St. Peter's Square and announces, "Habemus papam." That means "We have a new pope." The Pope comes on the the balcony and addresses the people as the Pope. Before leaving, he gives the Apostolic Blessing.
After the inauguration, the Pope starts his everyday responsibilities. He has many responsibilities and obligations. He is the spiritual leader of the world's biggest religion and the Vatican's head of state.
A few tasks of the Pope include:
Talks with political and global leaders worldwide
Appoints Cardinals and Bishops.
Bishop of the Archdiocese of Rome.
Educates people about Catholicism where he goes.
Presides during the beatification and canonization of saints.
Writes documentation about Catholic's official position on issues.
During the 2,000 years of having a Pope, the role has developed and changed. One time the Pope had military power, but he has that no longer.

The pope isn't the only interpreter of the Bible; if that alter into the case it could be inner maximum interpretation which in 2 Peter one million:20 says there should not be. The Church has the authority of biblical interpretation, because of the fact because it says in one million (2?) Tim 3:15 , the Church is the bulwark and commencing place of fact. in the Pauline epistles, that's obtrusive there are stunning and incorrect techniques of examining the Bible, and the authority comes right down to Apostolic custom (one million Cor 11:2, 2 Thess 2:15; 2 Thess 3:6; Jn 21:25; Acts 20:35; 2 Peter 3:15-17). Even those of the Early Church, mutually with Origen (c. 230 advert - before the time of Constantine) mentioned it replace into mandatory to have custom: "The coaching of the Church has certainly been surpassed down by using an order of succession from the Apostles, and maintains to be in the church homes even to the modern-day time. That on my own is to be believed as fact this is under no circumstances at variance with ecclesiastical and apostolic custom." (familiar Doctrines one million, preface, 2). As for the place the commencing place of the pope comes from, i'm specific many have already quoted Isaiah 22:19-23 and Matthew sixteen:thirteen-20 and defined the parallel. although, this does not make Peter the only interpreter of the Bible, however the pope, the vicar of Christ, who speaks on His behalf. The Church is the only interpreter of the Bible. you're ideal in saying that faith is meant to be a non secular bond between you and God, although this is not so elementary to be with God. he's all effectual, all robust, all understanding, inexpressible divinity, ideal holiness, and previous description. What are you? And who're you to interpret God's holy be conscious? Are you organic sufficient to declare "it is fact!"? do you be attentive to the suggestions of God which you would be able to say what's His inner maximum suggestions?

I think Jn21 and 22 best describes the role that Jesus gave to Peter who of course was the first Pope to lead the church...the rest speaks for itself....

the bank is still open on this quest. right now the official role of the pope is to keep the debits and credits more or less equal. what a boring job. too bad the last pope had to die. it was way more interesting to see the magestic movements full of fleeting grace. oh my....there is no god that lives in that sort of golden rotting dogma...

Ignoring bigoted and ignorant comments from some of our louts on here, the office role of The Pope is that He is The Bishop of Rome, and Pontiff, i.e. the elected leader of the College of Cardinals, to lead them and the Roman Catholic Church. He is in direct apostolic succession to Saint Peter, appointed by Christ Himself to lead and govern Christ's followers on Earth. You may not like it, but that is the way it is!

To impress the gullible. To dress up in fancy robes and pontificate as if he knew what he was talking about. He is just a figurehead for the archaic Catholic Church, which has been rotting away for centuries. He and it are a farce.
