If you have saddle symptoms (bum and inner thighs), or any symptoms afecting bowel or bladder, then that would be all the more reason for immediate surgery, as this would mean a central prolapse, putting pressure on your spinal cord.

You need an MRI to see what's going on, and referral to a neurosurgeon if indeed there is a central disk prolapse.

If your doctor hasn't arranged this, go see another doctor, or go through A/E.

PS If you don't put spaces between your words when you're typing, then they will dispay as yours have done, making it very hard for us to understand what you're asking.

Why did the doctor say no surgery? I would definitely seek another opinion. You can suffer permanent nerve damage if it continues to push on your nerves in your spine. That is what is causing the pins and needles in your legs and between your thighs, that is the burning. It is alarming that the doctor didn't do more. It never hurts to seek another opinion. You may also want to see a pain management doctor who specializes in spines as they can put steroids directly into the disc to try and calm the inflammation in the area. You can also get proper pain control medication. Which is important. There are also a lot of prescriptions for nerve pain. It wouldn't hurt to see about traction either. Don't just settle for the opinion of one person, see someone until you get some help. But I highly recommend looking into a doctor who specializes in pain management as sometimes the inflammation can go down with a serious of injections. There are also other non invasive surgical techniques these type of doctors can do such as IDET or Nuecleoplasty these are outpatient procedures and can be very successful. Good luck!

i have problem of degeneration of l4 and l5

i take ibuprofen and got thru cricket season this year.

i am middle aged and i bowl !!

you could try looking at the sports injury clinic

on www.sportsinjuryclinic.net

even if u r not a sportsman, they give a whole range of remedial devices/techniques and advice.

i have learned a few things for them. they might have something for prolapsed disc. it could be u have exactly the same problem as me! how old r u ??

do u play sport?
do you sit a certain way in a chair?
do u sleep on ur back?

u might have an RSI ( a repetetive stress injury) if u do a similar activity or last two of above.

it might be to do with posture.

u can look at all these things to try and find out. was the injury caused by trauma? is it a recent injury?

try also looking at the results of a search....type

spinal injuries

into your yahoo search engine and u can see a lot of sites.

hope u have a successful browse and i really do sympathise. my pain used to b so bad, i couldn't even walk.

Ask again and this time make all your words clear. You are asking folks, including us, who have severe spinal problems, I will have surgery within a couplew months. I live in the Chicago area, a spinal doctor is named Dr. Sweeney, he is the best around here. Try a university hospital for advice. Living on pain medicine is no way to live, got to get strong again, my goal! My husband has 4 pages of a CT scan of his spine alone that don't include his neck, I guess this is the house of pain. Please make your question clear this time. OK????
