expand their tastes. They won't eat many vegetables, fruit, pork, any spices or herbs, nothing mixed together and the list goes on. My dinners consist of spaghetti, alfredo, tacos, and not much else. Is there any cookbooks or anything to help with meal ideas? I love to cook, but everything I try they hate. Help??

On the Canadian Food TV channel there is a program called "Just One Bite".

The two cooks work with the parents and the children to help them learn recipes that the children will eat and to work with the children to negotiate trying new/different foods.

If you aren't in Canada, you might want to look up the program on the web - http://www.foodtv.ca/ontv/titledetails.aspx?titleid=96848 - and at least look at the recipes they try out.

I don't know what you can do about your husband but it might help if you got your daughter actually involved in the preparation of the meals.

Good luck!

You shouldn't pander to their picky eating habits. Prepare a healthy meal for them and give them two choices, eat it or don't eat it but that's all you are getting. And do not allow the child to snack on cereal or chips.

The rule at our house was that you try three bites of anything new. No choices. You ate what was on the table.

There's not much you can do about your husband since he is a grown man, but you can teach your daughter how to eat a wide variety of things. She'll be better off as she grows. And don't let him sway you from these lessons.

I have to agree with a lot of the above answers..the rule of trying three bites before reacting, constitutes the ability to like or not like. How about having them and yourself come up with food items they do like, not spaghetti every night...you should all shop together and make decisions together...make them responsible for their choices...and if all else fails, alfredo tacos it is!!!

I'd cook what you like and let them suffer the consequences. If they want it separate, let them pick it apart. You can't be expected to be a short-order cook, or you wind up... well, where you are now, w/ 3 whole meals to choose from.

If you are the one cooking, they should be eating what you produce. Cook the way you want, and if they don't eat it, they have to wait for the next meal! You can, of course, allow for REAL dislikes (e.g. liver or tomatoes, or something someone REALLY hates).

kick them in the head....

no seriously if they won't eat what you cook with all YOUR time and effort they can go without... after awhile they will have to eat and then they will learn to like new things =)

or you could have them smoke a big joint before dinner, then they'll eat anything and it'll taste absolutely delicious.

much respect to you mom, I wish my mom still cooked for me but she doesn't do it as often cause her back is hurt, so I cook for her.... demand your respect!

Personally, I'd tell them that if they dont like what is prepared they can get their own meals.
