I am me. Why do I have to define my identity as being part of this group or that group, or somebody who believes in God? If God makes you a better person, then good for you, but I don't think that I need God to make me happy. And I don't hate God, I just don't believe that He exists.

First of all, I dont define myself as an atheist. I define myself by who I am as a person. Defining myself as an atheist would be akin to defining myself as someone that doesnt believe that the world is held up by Atlas or that it rides on the back of a giant turtle. Is that how you define yourself?

I do not hate god. I think you have a really skewed idea of atheism. I know in the past there have been some obnoxious people who have defended atheism. They have come across as harsh, hateful people. That's not me! That's not any of my friends who are atheists. Please dont assume it is, anymore than I should assume that all christians are obnoxious hateful racists, because there have been a few outspoken ones. We all share this world, lets work together to make it better. Tolerance is a good thing!

Understand - I don't hate god. It's impossible to hate what does not exist. That would be wasted emotion.

Atheists don't hate something that isn't there.

Who am I? Someone who thinks of others before herself. Someone who tries to be a decent, caring person. Someone who loves kids, and protects their interests. I may not agree with what you believe, but I would die to defend your right to believe it. I read. I have opinions that are not formed by a minister, or an old book. I am a volunteer, I am an intelligent person, I love to laugh, I love to sing. I have the same fears and failings as everyone else - the difference is, I don't look to a god or gods to help me. I work out my problems on my own, or with the help of the people who love me. I can be arrogant, or I can be meek. I am human, just like all of you. I just am me. I don't need to label myself - atheist is the label others gave me.

I am a dark orb, reflecting the world as smoke and shadow. I am the most powerful creation of the natural world. I am a god among gods who think they are but men. I am the goat on the hill, laughing at the lambs who are slaughtered. I am the leader of my people. I am the protector of the innocent. I am the punisher of the righteous. I am the judge, jury, and executioner. I am pride, lust, greed, avarice. I am cut from the cloth of the first angel, the Lightbringer. I am ecstasy and agony. I am fire, water, earth and air.

Atheists do not hate god- because they do not know him. I do know him, and I do hate him. I am the explicit atheist. I do not need your god.

Hail Satan!

What you said is a paradox. An atheist does not hate any gods because an atheist doesn't believe in any gods.

I define my identity by my deeds and by my actions I'm a Nurse who works with very sick special needs children. I'm someone who donates time to animal shelters and nursing homes, blood to those who need it, money to research for cancer. I consider myself a good and moral person.

I'm also someone to whom personal freedom is extremely important. Anything that interferes with that (Religions preaching that a woman has no choice over her own body) makes me very angry. I have no patience for intolerance (Such as "If you don't agree with my religion you're going to hell), and I can't stand people who refuse to think for themselves.

That's who I am. Who are you?

How can we hate something that for us doesn't exist??? And WHY do you, believers, always associate the word hatred with Atheists??? We don't hate anybody, we just don't like ingnorance. Pesonally I have a deep respect for those who have Faith eventhough I don't share their views. Our identity: human beings, just like any other, who don't believe in God. It didn't take a genious to understand the meaning of the word atheist, did it?;)

Atheists don't "hate god".

Do you really think that you're doing your religion any good when you post dishonest statements like this? The vast majority of people are smart enough to see through this lie, and it reflects poorly on you and on believers when you post it.

Yeah, I Hate god. But you know who really pisses me off is Santa Claus. I quite fond of Casper the friendly ghost he is my best friend in the whole world. Just the other day I had the tooth fairy over for a game of scrabble and crumpets. (Oh by the way I’m being sarcastic).

I would feel much shame if I had to give meaning to my life through infantile delusional god concepts. What a waste of a Human mind.

Another prickly Christian who still does not understand the word atheist!!

Atheists do not believe in a god - So how can they hate one?

What you see on YA is atheists rebutting Christian extremism.
