He whose breast is opened to Islam is therefore illuminated by his Lord. Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah! Such people are clearly misguided. (Surat az-Zumar: 22)

Its one of my reason, whats yours?

Lupo at that question it was asking the importance of religion, status etc. in marriage, it wasnt asking the love part. Nobody can get married without love right? Its ridicilous to marry without loving someone and im not so ridicilous. Thank you for your concern.

Freedom of Choice

[33:72] We have offered the responsibility (freedom of choice) to the heavens and the earth, and the mountains, but they refused to bear it, and were afraid of it. But the human being accepted it; he was transgressing, ignorant.

[33:73] For GOD will inevitably punish the hypocrite men and the hypocrite women, and the idol worshipping men and the idol worshipping women. GOD redeems the believing men and the believing women. GOD is Forgiver, Most Merciful.

Do Not Follow Your Parents' Religion Blindly

[5:104] When they are told, "Come to what GOD has revealed, and to the messenger," they say, "What we found our parents doing is sufficient for us." What if their parents knew nothing, and were not guided?

[5:105] O you who believe, you should worry only about your own necks. If the others go astray, they cannot hurt you, as long as you are guided. To GOD is your ultimate destiny, all of you, then He will inform you of everything you had done.

No Compulsion in Religion

[2:256] There shall be no compulsion in religion: the right way is now distinct from the wrong way. Anyone who denounces the devil and believes in GOD has grasped the strongest bond; one that never breaks. GOD is Hearer, Omniscient
[2:257] GOD is Lord of those who believe; He leads them out of darkness into the light. As for those who disbelieve, their lords are their idols; they lead them out of the light into darkness - these will be the dwellers of Hell; they abide in it forever.

A regimented "Religion" is bad, I'm afraid, Zifikos.

Look at what the indoctrination of five prayers per day in a ritual, regimented manner makes little Muslim children! It makes them lose track of reality.

Weren't you the young lady who replied a question about Love and marriage saying that you dodn't think love was important at all; because it was your "duty" to produce good Muslim children?

While other children are enjoying their childhood, you Muslim children are getting confused and frenzied because you're being conditioned to "serve" the Agenda of World Domination that your "religion" preaches.

The Second World War was the result of a maniac called Hitler who believed that the Germans were the Master Race. Looks like Islam will be the cause of the Third World War.

I pray to God that youngsters like you will be able to see the Light and leave that madness before it's too late.

Religion is used to keep the masses working together towards a goal set out by the clerics of that religion. The holders of power want to KEEP that power and so they preach obedience to the church or mosque and people are brainwashed NOT to question. They just blindly follow.

I don't beleive it's mentally healthy for people to be praying all day long, every day, seven days a week. That's how the religious leaders keep the people in line; by MAKING them break loose from free thinking to pray and pay homage to God.

But the God I believe in says He gave us nature as the only church we have to step inside. He gave us the song of the birds, the crash of the ocean waves, the wind in the trees and other beautiful sounds to listen to so that we don't listen to the rantings of other humans who claim to know what He's thinking.

Lastly, I talk to the Universe all day, if I want to! i laugh about things and am thankful when something good happens to me and also say thank you when adversity strikes because it's still a learning experience. I don't believe in a vengeful, angry God. That's just a science fiction story made to stay faithful and generous to the church by oation.

You just said it in Surat az-Zumar:22, "Woe to those whose hearts are hardened against the remembrance of Allah." You have just simply told us that if we don't believe in Allah, we are doomed.

Self-righteousness, which is what religion is, is necessary only for those who do not need God. It is natural for men to look UP for solutions to their problems or answers for their questions. Religion was established for this purpose. Problem is that religions are run by men, self-righteous men giving worldly answers to cosmic questions.

Christianity is different in that it casts away the self-righteousness of men in exchange for the righteousness of God. It demands that men rid themselves of pride and humble themselves before the Lord. Christianity is also a completed work in that Jesus died on the cross to forgive humankind of its sin nature. No religion could ever do this because no religion can put aside the self-righteous of men and the law. Judaism and Islam are nothing BUT law and the law never saved anyone from eternal death. Only the blood of Jesus saves because Jesus is God---he did what only God could do and that is die for the sin of man and raise himself from the grave to everlasting life. Because the law and the prophets are fulfilled in Christ we share in this sacrifice, that is all those that believe in him, and we thereby attain eternal life. Eternal life is the goal of true spirituality, for if we live not beyond this life, then to what purpose is it?

Religion is not necessary and true believers are not caught up in religion so to speak. there will be alot of religious people burnig in hell for all eternity! Religion in general is a bunch of tradition and rituals which will never get anyone into the kingdom. the only way in is thru a personal realationship with Christ! He does not require religion, on to love Him and have faith in Him and Him alone!

It is not necassay. Truth is.

Do you believe that religion is necessary to be a good and moral person? Do you believe evolution is a myth made up to discredit religion? Do you think God is so petty that he will decided your faith on which direction you pray? Do you believe that Sharia Law is actually just? My suggestion to you is to read "why i am not a muslim" by ibn Warraq. I am not doing this to insult you as a muslim i just want you to realize that there is this small chance that you might be wrong.

The Islamic religion is false and uses Satans plan of FORCE.

God is real. Religion is necessary.
It teaches us the value of life.
It teaches us truth.
It teaches us patience, love, understanding, care, charity, hope, faith, integrity, morality, virtue, peace.
It helps guide us to God and be truly happy forever.

Very intelligent question indeed!

Religion is not necessary... only that we are built into it by birth. The query should be... can one live without religion? Read the definition and purport here(;-)

What do we mean when we talk of Religion?

Just before the time when Bhagwan Mahavira descended on Mother Earth to become a man God in his lifetime... how did the humanity exist before that as there was no Religion at all before the times of Mahavira. Gautam Buddha had not yet come, and so did Jesus Christ. It was another 700 years to go before Prophet Mohammed would be born.

If the Spiritual masters of the day belonging to various Religions proclaim that their Religion was the best and only to be followed... where were they when the humanity survived even before the likes of Bhagwan Mahavira, Jesus Christ and prophet Mohammed were even born. They have got to be wrong... they must have a vested interest in proclaiming their Religion to be the best.

Jainism flowered after the 24th Tirthankara of Jainism took birth... Bhagwan Mahavira, the 24th Tirthankara precipitated the cosmic wisdom to the masses. Until the 23rd Tirthankara, Lord Parshvanath... the fragrance of the cosmic wisdom could not be spread to the masses and was limited to the Tirthankars, the Arihantas and the Acharyas (Spiritual teachers) of the times. The followers of Bhagwan Mahavira are known as following Jainism Religion. It is a different fact that Jainism is not a Religion and it is primarily a way of life. This is also confirmed from the fact that the followers of Mahavira are not known as following Mahavirism. They are known as the followers of Jainism... the definition of Jainism I shall take up later.

Buddhism is primarily the essence of the teachings of Gautama Buddha. The followers of Sidhartha Gautama are supposed to be following the Buddhism Religion. Everything contained in Buddhism is always related to the teachings of Sidhartha Gautama. The teachings of Gautama Buddha are also termed as the middle path... neither following too austere paths which is difficult to follow and not getting totally involved in the household affairs... following the middle path is what Gautama Buddha preached if one desired to crossover the ocean of Samsara (the life cycle of 8.4 million manifestations) and achieve Salvation in this life. Buddhism spread around the globe only after Sidhartha Gautama took birth learnt of the cosmic wisdom and achieved monk hood.

Christianity is a faith the followers of which comprise of believers in Jesus Christ. Those who consider Jesus Christ as the son of God... whose teachings form the primary content of the Bible... and the following of whom is termed as Christianity. Before Jesus Christ came there was nothing we could call Christianity. Christianity took its roots only after Jesus Christ was born on Mother Earth.

The followers of prophet Mohammed are called Islamists. The teachings of prophet Mohammed are primarily summarized in Koran and his following termed as the followers of Islamic Dharma neigh Religion. Islamic teachings are primarily focused on prophet Mohammed. Islamic Dharma spread only after the advent of prophet Mohammed... not before!

Jainism, Buddhism, Christianity and Islamic Dharma are normally considered as Religions... all Religions do have a central focus in them. Jainism has Bhagwan Mahavira, Buddhism has Sidhartha Gautama, Christianity has Jesus Christ and the Islamic Dharma prophet Mohammed.

What when all four of these man gods did not exist! Say about a thousand years before the advent of Bhagwan Mahavira came Lord Krishna, the Avatar. The followers of Lord Krishna are not termed as the followers of Hinduism. Not at all. What when even Lord Krishna had not yet incarnated. Even then say around 3600 years before from now the humanity survived without a Religion... how?

Now, I would explain the complete cosmic structure...

As the animal life started to evolve into Human Beings... the most initial of Human Beings just behaved like animals. There was no family structure or science to guide them. Nothing had yet evolved... it was only thousands of years later the Human Beings slowly started to realize that they were distinctly different from the animals. They somehow realized that they had something that we call as thinking power. More on is religion necessary here- http://www.vijaykumar.com/religion.html

Some people need religion because they're too weak-minded to cope with the fact that when you die, that's it, there is no after life. They also need a reason to be good, the laws that we have set up as humans for one another are not good enough for them, they need some eye in the sky telling them they will suffer for all eternity if they do something bad. So instead of being good out of their kindness, they need to do it out of fear.
