Does Mary Magdalene ring a bell?

2006-12-01 22:32:45 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 3 0

If you used to be a Prostitute then it will make no difference to your now being a Christian.
Jesus himself associated with a Prostitute for Mary Magdalene was actually Mary THE Magdalene as the word Magdalene means Prostitute.
If Jesus found it ok to be friends with a Prostitute then you should be made welcome in any Christian Church and if you are not and frowned upon, then shame on that Church for they have learnt nothing.

Yes.

He who is without sin, cast the first stone, Go thy way and sin no more.

God's plan for salvation is clearly stated in the New Testament.

HEAR GOD'S WORD
Romans 10:17; Matthew 13:13-23; Acts 2:41
BELIEVE IT WITH ALL YOUR HEART
Mark 16:15,16; Hebrews 11:6; John 8:24
REPENT OF ALL YOUR SINS
Act 2:38; Acts 17:30
CONFESS BEFORE MEN THAT CHRIST IS GOD'S SON
Romans 10:9,10; Acts 8:35,36,37,38,39
BE BAPTIZED TO WASH AWAY YOUR SINS ( immersion )Romans 6:1,2,3,4; Acts 22:16; Galatians 3:26,27; Colossians 2:12

Then continue to obey God and live a Christian life, spread the gospel to non-believers.

Yes. there are a few examples in the bible of people that did things against God's law but abandoned that course and started worshipping Him. The woman of Samaria, the Apostle Paul, the woman of Jericho (who was a prostitute) who hid the two Israelite spies, and one or two kings of Israel, The Apostle Matthew, and many others. When we humbly seek forgiveness for our sins through the name of Jesus Christ, God completely forgets those sins. Try this website for further details.

Yes, Isn't Mary magdalene a prostitute? Sinners has its shape and forms. Mary Magdalene does not accept Jesus first! She believes that Jesus can do much for her salvation, so she repented first of his sins, and later on trusting Jesus of her life, then she became a believer.

Receiving Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior is the most important decision you will ever make. If you want to experience the joy of being a Christian; a) Realize that God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life. b) Acknowledge that you are sinful and separated from God. c) Recognize that Jesus Christ is God's only provision for man's sin. d) Trust Jesus Christ and receive Him by faith.

Christianity is not all about receiving Jesus to be saved, it is a commitment to the risen christ. To conform to the image of God which was tarnish by sin through for disobedience.

Accepting Jesus, is bridging that gap between God and man. It is easy to become a christian, but its difficult to be a christian. The scripture says "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and its righteouness and EVERYTHING shall be added unto thee as well"

This EVERYTHINGS means all things, joy, pain, sorrow, peace, being loved and being rejected. You will experience this things when you become a christian. Jesus did not promised a bed of roses to those who would accept him. What he promised is "I will raise him up in the last day" and received the reward due to him/her.

Personal responsibility lies at the core of Christian belief
a) Responsibility for our own choices and a
b) Responsibility to care for others.

Christianity also has 2 sides like a coin, one is freedom, the other is responsibility, which means our ability to response (RESPONSE ABILITY)

I keep reading that Mary Magdeline was a prostitude, well she wasn't, it doesn't say that in scripture, all it says is the she used to have evil spirits in her which were removed. Can you become a Christian if you have been a prositute, yes you can. Can someone become a Christian if they are gay..er yes.....child molelester...er yes. Who are we to limit Gods love. God's whole plan is to reform us back to the state of Adam and Eve as he originally designed us. He will do it His way and ALL are welcome. We were not meant to be prositutes or gay all this is sin. But when we accept that Jesus is God's son and that He died for our sin then all your sin is totally forgiven, totally forgotten, ...past...present ...future...as the bible puts it, they are seperated from God as far as the east is from the west. As a Christian will see you as not an ex-prositute but wonderful, beautiful, virgin lady, courtesy of Jesus.
Just believe it, and invite Him in and you will be a Christian.
There are no higher and lower levels of sin with God, sin is sin. White lies are no better than having sex with someone of the same gender. That is why we are so thankful we can grasp hold of this forgiveness Jesus offers.

Hope this helps

Of course you can; Jesus portrayed this very issue with his friendship and acceptance of Mary Magdalene. She is one of several women who followed Jesus of Nazareth during his traveling ministry, according to Christian scriptures. She is also variously portrayed in other ancient texts, medieval legends and modern interpretations as a reformed prostitute, a rich person, a disciple with special gifts and authority, and a model of feminism. Brief direct references to her in the Gospels, the first four books of the New Testament, indicate her importance.

You betcha, dontcha know. We are all sinners in the eyes of the Lord. Accept Jesus and be forgiven for your past sins.

Just do the rest of us a favor and don't become one of those fascist Christians that take all the pleasure out of living. Just 'cause you made some mistakes doesn't mean you have to deny yourself the pleasures of living.
