The Illuminati are referred in the book Angels And Demons by Dan Brown. That book is very good, but I don't remember much about it. It explains things more clearly than I can

The Illuminati is the name of many groups, modern and historical, real and fictitious, verified and alleged. Most commonly The Illuminati refers specifically to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment secret society. However, it often refers to a shadowy conspiratorial organization which is reputed to secretly control world affairs, usually a modern incarnation or continuation of the Bavarian Illuminati. In this conspiratorial context, Illuminati is often used in reference to a New World Order (NWO). Due to continuous persecution of science by religion, in 1500s a group of men in Rome fought against the church. Some of Italy's most enlightened men - physicists, mathematicians, astronomers - began meeting secretly to share their concerns about the condition of scientists and their scientific teachings in the hands of the church.They founded the world's first scientific think tank, calling themselves "the enlightened ones" or the illuminati. The group was hunted ruthlessly by the catholic church and the group maintained rites of extreme secrecy to remain safe. Eventually most of them were hunted down probably. The book "Angels and Demons"by Dan Brown is an excellent plot involving the illuminati and their origin.

The illuminati is a false representation of Masons. Allegedly they want to take over the world. Since the Masons have been around for a few hundred years, they are pretty damned inefficient if the conspiracy theory were true. Ignore what you hear about this alleged group, it is nonsense.

A rough definition of Illuminati is an elite, secretive society (or groups of societies) that has existed throughout the ages. Their goal is world domination. They are basically antichrist in nature. They are the ones who will attempt to create the New World Order.

Illuminati comes from root word illumine, meaning light, or to enlightened. Before the downfall of rebelious angels, Lucifer was the angel of light and highest of the hierarchy of angels. Today the saint of the mason is the one representing light.

the illuminati, you can read all about them in ANGELS AND DEMONS by DAN BROWN good book actuall. but in a short way, the illuminati are the most powerfull intelecuatl group there is, is like the MASONS, you have in there all the scientists and other people that reject de church ideas.
