Primary consumers eat plants. Secondary consumers eat meat. Humans eat both, so are they both primary and secondary consumers?

Actually humans are tertiary consumers since we eat both primary and secondary consumers. The term for eating both plants and animals is omnivore.

It depends what food chain you are looking at. If we eat plants then we are primary. If we eat beef then we are a secondary and if we eat something like shark then we are Tertiary consumers or possibly even higher depending on what the shark has eaten

Primary. We eat meat by choice not by necessity. The nutrients in meats can easily be found in other plants. The other way around is not as easy. Also, the shape of our teeth is designed for plants not meat.

if you want to get technical then the GROWING of food is a secondary consumer characteristic ( also us )
