Its not thier decision. They only carry out thier duties as they are instructed.

But, I have heard of some Marines on the ground that winning against the Insurgents would be difficult, if not impossible. That's because in reality, the Insurgents have a lot of support from the public. 95% of Sunnis want the US military out of Iraq, and 79% of Shias want the same thing.

The US military really is not popular amongst the Iraqis.

Firstly they do not think that; secondly the US military in Iraq has never lost a battle, definitely not the war - it's the opposite. They took Iraq in one of the fastest military operations in history, never lost an encounter. Finally when they do leave Iraq, they should never be faulted for their role; rather they should be welcomed home as the most courageous of all men and women in the USA. The situation in Iraq is not of their doing. And it's not for them either to determine Iraq's future.

It's not up to the military. It's why the President thinks we will win in Iraq. The military just follows orders.

Its not a matter of thinking, they have the tools and the resources but all the liberal bs and the media bias which is guiding public opinion is hampering what they need to do to win.

Trust me if you knew all what went on during WWII we would be flying a German or Japanese flag on our flag poles rather then the stars and stripes.

The men and women in Iraq are fighting a political war and are doing what they can but not to full ability that the US Military has.

Not because they don't want to or don't have the will, its because of all the political bs that will cause the loss of this war just like we lost Vietnam. We kicked butt in Vietnam but politics lost the war.

You want to win, let the military do their damn job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My husband is in the military and he doesn't and nor do his friends think that completely. Never quit until the job is done, he says. Until Iraq is a free country, the will probably always be there. It is not always winning they are after, but helping a country in need. I am not always for the war, but helping out where it is needed is a noble thing and is needed.

Soon we will see, I dont think Iraq was ever "winable". But I do think soon, those people wanting to kill each other might trim the population down so bad, there might not be much left of that place. If Saddam would have left power any other way...the people still would have been fighting because he kept all the balance.
Who can deny that?

Because we have been there an know that things are not the way the media presents them.

Heck - look at the number of people here who are not aware that Iraq has an elected, constitutional government!

Because they (and I) have been there.

The only weakness of the US Military is the complete lack of political will of the American Voting Public.

It's not the Military that will lose this war, it's the bleeding heart media that is shoving their bleeding heart views down the Worlds throats and the rest of the worlds stupidity in believeing everything they hear and read that will lose it for us.
