Kind of harsh to the favorite son, though.

Not just His favorite, but his ONLY Son!
I know from experience that there is NOTHING worse or more painful than loosing a child! And I mean nothing. God gave His Son to be crucified so that we could all be saved and given eternal life. And the worst part is that He had to die one of the worst deaths imaginable. Jesus took all that abuse on Himself for us, knowing that He could have stopped it at any time. And God could have stopped it, too, but He did it for us!
I don't know about anybody else...but I KNOW it would take someone a heck of a lot stronger than me to set back and watch my son be tortured, ridiculed & killed for someone else's wrongs.

I would say that's pure stupidity. Reckless self-sacrifice is not noble. No one can be sure that to die for others will be the best ways. It was as if there's no other alternatives. If I have a son like that, I'm not proud of him.

God really was an abusive father. If you had a son wouldn't you spend lots of quality time with your son helping to show him the ropes? Did God ever clue Jesus in as to what he was going to happen to him on the cross? NO. Jesus actually said "God why have you forsaken me? In other words, "Hey dad, what;'s going on? Why don't you get yourself another punching bag?"

I don't think we as humans can even fathom in our minds the concept of doing this, only a supreme being could go that far, I thank God every day for that sacrifice he made for me, and YES, he would have made that sacrifice if I was the only one,

And then imagine that your favorite son is you, and that you impregnated your own mother with yourself and then watched yourself grow up, prayed to yourself, called yourself father and then watched yourself die and your father, who is also yourself couldn't look at you while you died, so you ask yourself why you have forsaken yourself. Um?

Boring. I've heard this tired line over and over again. It still doesn't mean anything.
