If you are having hearing problems then it sounds like it is clogged with wax. Olive oil can be used as often as you like. Ask your doctor for Waxol this works well for me. If it is very blocked the nurse may try syringing it for you (flushing it out with tepid water after the wax has been softened with oil) If this dosen't work ask to go to hospital to have it all removed properly by a specialist. This is a bit uncomfortable but your hearing will be as sharp as a pin afterwards! I have had all these things done myself and it is a bloody nightmare but it's much better to put Waxol or olive oil in daily once it has been cleared to stop it building up and clogging your ear. The pain is probably just due to the wax being impacted by your ear drum. Good luck!

I have never used olive oil...it honestly doesnt sound like a great idea. If you have an infection, you need antibiotics. Tell your doctor to give you some oral antibiotics as well as antibiotic drops. I have had several ear infections because I work in the diving industry. If it has been around for more than 2 weeks you need some real medicine. You may feel a bit dizzy sometimes, don't worry the whole think will be over in about 10 days if you get the right stuff. Good luck!

No dont use olive oil as u need something stronger like swedish bitters, drop 2-3 drops into your ear 2-3 times a day
Also take as per directions orallly.
Do this as soon as possible as 2 weeks is too long for an earache. or see a chinese herbalist.
You will find hopi ear candles at the health store and some chemists
Get fenugreek from the health store and grind it in a mortar and pestle or an electric grinder, add hot water, fresh juice and honey or palm sugar, drink 1-2 litres per day, this will help stop the mucos from blocking tonsils and appendix
Charcoal capsules from the chemist will help also
Olive leaf extract is also great but i think the swedish bitters will be more effective until the infection reduces
It is best to avoid meats, sugar and yeast bread / beer too
Avoid dairy products until you are better and then reduce as they are just making mucos in you

my son had his first ear infection. but what i did was, this may sound wierd. but to get the built up wax out of his ear. i rolled up a peice of regular white paper into a cone shape. stuck the pionty end in the ear. and lit the other end with a match. let it burn for about 1 minute. dont let it get too close. then take it out. the smoke helps loosen up the wax. later on that nite the infected ear wax was draining out. the next day he went to the doctor and the docter said it was clearing up on its own. that really helped him. i know that at some health stores the sell long pieces of beeswax just for this purpose.

my gran used to heat a teaspoon of olive oil, put it in the ear, plug with cotton wool and let it dissolve any excess wax. as a trained nurse i can tell you not to do this. go to the doctors and get them treated properly. your inner ear is a very delicate organ, and should be treated with care. if infected it can cause severe effects, involving your balance, make you vomit, and lethergic. you may need antibiotics.

I just had tonsilitus, which spread to my ears, I TOTALLY FEEL FOR YOU DUDE. Try laying on a hot water bottle for short intervals...the heat melts the pain.

EDIT: I also totally forgot. try Hopi Ear Wax candles, you can get them from Holland and Barratt. Theyre super.

i dont think you have an infection, just a build up of wax.i have to have mine syringed quite often and have only ever had an infection once, its not pleasant and the pain is horrific, sickness and dizzyness.if it does develop into an infection, you will be treated with antibiotic drops.
