Your bed linens provide you with a fabric that is more suitable for contact ... egyptian cotton, flannel, satin, etc.

yeah....not just customary but most mattress pads are very rough...compared to sheets... they also dont breathe as well since many are polyester...so cotton sheets are better to sleep on.
