First of all, there are very few corrupt cops and to scrap a system that has been in place for over a hundred years to weed out a few bad apples is ludicrous.
Second, the constitution gives the power of setting up police forces to the states. In order to create a national police force they would first have to amend the constitution. Politicians would never allow that to happen.
I personally would like to see a state-wide police force, not to end corruption but to save taxpayers money by eliminating duplication of authority.
What makes you think the military could do things any better. I think they should send the LAPD to Iraq, they would straighten out that place in no time.

That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard...You want the military - a force put together for the sole purpose of KILLING AND DESTROYING this nations enemies doing day to day law enforcement? Soldiers are not cops. Different missions. Police are trained to use negotiation and defensive tactics and lethal force as a last resort. Soldiers are trained to use lethal force as pretty much the first, last, and only resort (that is until recent years where their now trying to turn them into police...bad idea). I'll take my chances with a cop that might write me a ticket I don't deserve once in a blue moon rather than Marshal Law. Let the police enforce the laws and the military defend our country.

Are you serious? This might be a sarcastic question.

National police forces have been around before, like in, say....RED CHINA AND THE SOVIET FREAKIN' UNION. That's the most anti-American idea I've seen here in at least 20 minutes.

Is corruption a problem? You bet. But a POLICE STATE??!! That's gonna solve our problems? If you haven't noticed, nearly everybody in the U.S. is corrupt. From the "little man" to the highest levels of power. Most people operate on an extremely condensed version of the 10 Commandments. The part about murder.

Sounds great if you are a nazi and this is 1938 Germany. Ole adolph thought that was a wonderful idea, too...along with disarming the citizens.

Using your same logic, we need to establish a national car repair center to get rid of all the corrput mechanics.

A national toilet repair center should also be established, that way we wouldnt have plumbers ripping people off.

While we are at it, lets establish federally run brothels. bill clinton could be brought in to oversee the ladies as a federal employee. This way we could get rid of all the corrupt pimps.

Why do you think that this national police force will be any less corrupt than the police/military memberes are now?

that is a good question? corrupt cops know they can be corrupt because there are laws created to protect them and they know that.if you have ever been to any court you would see how the word of the officer is upheld by the judge ,basically saying ,,because this individual is a officer of the law they do not lye and abuse thier authority....If you took the time out to fix your self up a nice garden ,,,only to discover weeds where starting to grow in your garden ,,of course you would proceed to do away with them...long story short ,,,if you qualify to be a police then that gives you the right to do what ever you want ,and be supported by other dounut eaters..millitary is government and that is a whole neither ball game ,,which also includes alot of foul play.just imagine this,,,,if you said,,,I HATE BUSH ,,you are now considered a terriost,,,well what if you where exercising your constitutional rights ....long story short corrupt cops get paid more for being corrupt, than being in the military risking your life

I looked at some of the questions you have asked so I think we should not have a national police force because you might want to join. Judging from your integrity that would be a bad thing..

And what makes you think that these military guys will be free from corruption? Remember, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. That means, if the cops now are corrupt, the absolutely powerful national police force will be absolutely corrupt.
