that is what the bible tells us--the doctrine of original sin, and since Jesus said the laws of abraham were still in effect, nothing has changed--God barbecues innocent babies

I can answer this question from a Catholic perspective.
If the child dies right after birth, but is baptized just before death, the child goes immediately to Heaven.
The baptism, which can be performed by anybody, removes the stain of original sin.
To perform an emergency baptism, one need not be a Catholic priest or even a Catholic. He or she simply has to put some water on the child's head, and say "I baptize you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." That's it.
If a child dies right after birth and before being baptized, a bit more explaining is needed for that scenario.
The Catholic Church held to the possibility -- but never actually taught it as fact -- that a spiritual state known as Limbo exists.
Limbo, the thought goes, is a spiritual state of perpetual happiness for the souls of unbaptized children. It's not Heaven, but it sure sounds a lot nicer than hell.
The Catholic Church never propagated Limbo as a formal doctrine of the Church. Catholics have always been free to believe in Limbo if they find evidence for it convincing -- or to not believe in it, if they find the evidence is not convincing.
Personally, I feel that there's no such thing as Limbo -- and that God allows the unborn and unbaptized child, after death, to choose either to be with Him in Heaven or not. A lot of Catholics believe the same as I do on this subject, and our opinion is perfectly in line with Catholic teaching.

Even if there is a heaven or hell, I can't see anyone sending a pure, innocent soul to "hell". Personally, I believe in neither and I think that the rituals of most organized religions or cults want to start creating and brainwashing humans as soon as possible to ensure longevity and increase membership. More member = more money = more power. Unfortunately it has come to that. I don't think Jesus would approve.

St Gregory of Nizianzen was asked exactly the same question and his response was interesting...he said:
"The Lord's words are clear "Unless one is baptised he shall not see the kingdom of heaven"...and at the same time, we know that God never created anyone to perish and Love and mercy is His nature...so it's a Dilemah that none of us is qualified to to judge, because He is the Only Judge. What we can do is peculate on the most 'probable' answer which would be that the child may not see God, but definately will not suffer, thus 'probably' he will enter heaven but not see God's face."
I hope this helps...God bless.

It goes to neither heaven or hell. It has not yet had a chance (as you have pointed out) to sin or live a righteous life. And it has not yet been judged. (BTW, that goes for all the unborn, as well.)
A common misconception of Christianity (and Bible teaching) is that this life is the only chance for salvation. In truth, most people have not yet had their chance. The vast majority of people will learn of Christ and the truth of life AFTER they die and are resurrected.

It doesn't really happen. Heaven and hell are the creation of religion and sometimes the stories that they make up contradict what they want you to believe. For thousands of years the Catholic Church said that priests received a calling from God until it was discovered that so many were pedophiles and people realized that God knowingly called perverts to religious life

They are in heaven. Children born from sin, but there's also age of accountability. God know that children that died doesn't know what's right and wrong yet, remember He is a God of wrath, but He's also holy, just and love.
Babies baptism doesn't mean anything, because they can't decide for themself anyway.
(IF your read through out the bible, no one was baptized when they were babies, including Jesus Himself)

If a child dies right after birth it is a great tragedy. The child was a soul and no-longer exists, it doesn't go to hell (burning torture) or heaven but waits as the rest of the dead for a Resurrection back to the earth.

Romans 4:7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
Romans 4:8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
The child never had sin, older child, they are not charged with sin, till they know what sin is.

No one is born from sin.
Everychild is born sinless, and if a child dies in infancy he/she would go to the Heaven.
it is upto us to sin or do good, the consequences are accordingly.
