Some times when I stand up after sitting for a while, I become weak, my vision fades and goes black, and my senses are filled with an odd smell, I think its chlorine. No, I don't live near a pool, its a fairly recent thing and these events last less than 10 seconds and then I'm back to normal.

It sounds like your blood pressure may be dropping rapidly with your position changes; I think you probably want to run this by your doctor so he can review any meds you may be on and assess you further.

go to a doctor most likely you are having one of a few things that can be going on such as Low blood pressure, Hypoglycemia, or Vertigo (simply dizzy spells)....there are many things that a medical doctor can do for you...If you have low blood pressure when you rise to fast from a laying or sitting position all the blood draws from your head causing a fainting like reaction...Hypoglycemia can occur when your blood sugar is too low and when you moved swiftly you will get faint and also Vertigo is simply a condition that causes normally healthy people to get faint and dizzy..whether its one of these or not its best to consult your physician to get a full exam and see if they can recreate the episodes you are having..in the office so that they can better diagnose you..Good Luck

I'm not sure about the chlorine, but the other symptoms sound like malnutrition, go to a doctor and take a multi vitimin.

you may have low blood pressure. when you have such, standing up suddenly causes a slight loss of blood to the brain which causes the dizziness and feelings of weakness. you can check your pressure at most drug stores for free using the machine most have. if you suspect you have it, see a dr and have it checked fully since the machines at the drug storews aren't really as accurate as needed for a diagnosis.

Hello
all these symptoms suggest postural hypo tension.it is not very serious.when you stand up blood from your brain gets drained causing dizziness, once your body adopts to the standing posture you get back to normal.
are you eating enough?take care of your diet and avoid standing up straight from a squatting position.
take care
