You are right about that, Spanish its a beautiful language and because we speak it is even better, but American People they don't understand that, they see us as and intruder who came here to stole their jobs and land, but think about this! how hard it is to learn English,? is not difficult for us, but for them to learn Spanish is a nightmare, and how many Hispanic people they teach the way to success speaking both languages?, a lot of them , so I guess all Latinos that we are here we need to learn English as second language to show them that we have guts and that we can do better things in they're own country.

Sorry, no sale. If you want to emigrate to the United States of America, learning english is part of the bargain. If that's really a problem for you, then you should sit down and earnestly consider whether or not you really want to emigrate, period. If you tried to emigrate to any other country in the world, it would go without saying pretty much that you'd be needing to learn a foreign language. The whole temper tantrum about 'we only want to speak spanish' is exactly that, a temper tantrum. If you're so married to the idea of speaking exclusively spanish, why not move to a country where you can do that? Spanish is widely spoken throughout the americas, even in the United States,
but don't expect special dispensation/consideration for your language preference in the USA. English is, and will remain, our common language. There are many american hispanics, people who've emigrated to the USA or been born in the USA, and you'll find that many of them are indeed excellent english speakers as well, because their parents taught them, and they learned it in school.
Learning english isn't THAT difficult, and if you're honest and sincere in your desire to emigrate and become an american citizen, then you should be learning and studying, and encouraging others to do the same. Conversely, if you've got your head dead-set against learning english, then the USA is not the right country for you. Thanks for visiting!

Listen "CHEO," you have to learn it for the same reason I had to learn Spanish when I moved down here to Mexico. I have English speaking tv channels, radio, newspapers and magazines. My telephone service and my cell phone operate in English here, as does my computer and Internet service. Many freinds and family can speak some English. Oh, and most of the states, cities and towns here are named in Nahuatl, Olmec, Toltec, Yaqui or Mayan, NOT Spanish. I too have a copy of the Mexican national anthem in English.
Why should I learn Spanish when I live in Mexico?
Well, I guess that would be because its the LANGUAGE OF THE COUNTRY, you IDIOT! (how's that for an "English insult?" Easy to see why you get so many of them!)

Very good question and here is your answer.
Spanish speaking immigrants should learn to speak English because this country is an english speaking country and the Spanish people are not special. They are no more special than the Russian immigrants or the Italian immigrants or the Chinese immigrants. All of these immigrants are expected to learn to speak English and assimulate to the rules and customs of our country. And the Spanish speaking LEGAL immigrants should do the same.
I know, you want to preserve your culture, but that is not an option. It's not how it works. If immigrants want their culture to be preserved then they should stay within their culture back in their country of origin.
BUT...if an immigrant wants to come to another country then they should adhere to the customs of that country.
America is the great melting pot. Spanish speaking people must melt into that pot and color it with their culture. But they cannot transform the whole of that culture to be theirs. Thats not how it works.
And for those of us who watched our parents struggle to learn english so they and their children could have a better life, it's rather insulting that the spanish speaking community deems themselves above this fundamental task.
So the question is: Why are the spanish speakers better than everyone else? And how can your racism ( Spanish elitism ) be justified?

.You are the one doing the insulting.Your entire port is an insult to The United States of America and its
people.
The depth of ignorance on here never fails to amaze me.First of all you are not a majority in the US .80% of the US speaks English as their first language.Another 10% speak Spanish as their first language with English as their second language, and the last 10% only speak Spanish. So as you see the only place you are a majority may be in the neighborhood where you live.
The made up idea of multiculturalism is a farce to propagate disaster to this nation. You are really showing all Americans why illegal aliens need to all be deported. And any legal immigrants that refuse to attempt to assimilate into the American way of life. This separatism
you embrace will be the down fall of your cause.
Every day I become more of a Nationalists, thanks to people like you that spread this nonsense

OK, GREAT QUESTION
My answer is that if you went to any other country you would need to learn that language, they would not provide you with tv and stores in your language. do you think that it is fair that every thing needs to be in so many different languages, wouldn't it be nice to understand each other and be able to talk and help each other with out having to get an interpreter to do so ?
when a school calls a child's home to tell the mother, that her child has been hurt, why should the school have to find some one to speak that language to talk to the mother ? and this is not just about Spanish, we have many people from other country's and every one should speak English EVERYONE REGARDLESS OF WHERE THEY ARE FROM

I think learning to speak English is very important.
It is the language of technicians. While it is true the people that are constructing computers may not be fluent in English, but the people designing the circuits use English as the common method of communicating the technical information.
It is the language of airline pilots and air traffic controllers. ATC in all countries generally are able to speak 2 languages. Their native tongue and English.
I had always told myself that I would never travel to a foreign country unless I could speak their language. I broke my promise when I had to make an emergency trip to Germany. Strangest thing happened. Everywhere I went, most of the people could speak English.
In India, a country that in some ways still has areas that are considered 3rd world, yet everyone is trying to learn English.
Yet our neighbors to the south, who most Americans welcome, avoid learning English.

Yes, you do have Spanish TV, radio, et cetera. Why should we continue to bend over backwards forcing tax payers to supply such things as free translators in court for law breakers and multiple interpreters for their relatives? Why would you want to enter a country because you admire it so much and proceed to try to force that country to behave like your homeland?
Yes, this was the original melting pot, but those early LEGAL immigrants and have melted into the stew by learning the language and truly becoming Americans.
If Americans travel to another country, we don't expect those residents to comply with our language and financially support methods that allow us to function while refusing to make an effort to act within their guidelines.
It is an extreme burden to baby those who continue to speak a foreign language to their children and paralyze any hope of the next generation being less of an expense and burden to us.
You are welcome to the benefits of legally becomiing and earning the title American. Jetta

You the majority... HAHAHAHA...
Now look who's being a racist (yes I remember that pathetic excuse for an answer that you gave my question). Asking for special privileges eh el stupido? You hispanic immigrants are most definitely NOT SPECIAL and as such deserve no special treatment.
In short learn English and pledge your allegience to the United States of America... not the hell-hole country you came from.
And by the way... this proves you ARE fighting for the Mexicanization of the United States.

Because this is the USA not Mexico! This is an english speaking country. Like so many of them have said we have given mexicans alot of free services and taken away from US citizens and it is not fair. If you'll hate our country so much go home! You'll need to develope your own country and try to help the economy there and stay there!
