Is there a national average? I just took a typing test for a job and want to know how I compare to other's who took the test as well. I appreciate the help.

I believe around 55 is the average. :) I think the typing speed is growing though because the world is starting to evolve around technology haha. I'm 12 and I type 84 wpm, but I am crazy fast.

Someone having minor experience with keyboards can reach 50 words per minute, an average typist reaches about 80 to 95 (usually the minimum required for dispatch positions and other typing jobs), while advanced typists work at speeds above 120.
