No, a hypothesis must be a reasonable explanation of the facts, not a delusion.

As I've noted in other questions, evolution is not a theory. The concept of "survival of the fittest" (a term coined by Herbert Spencer), however, *is* a theory. It is important not to confuse the two.

As the word "hypothesis" can denote an assumption or guess, the concept of "God" can, technically, be tested. Actually, it is possible that others have "tested" the hypothesis of the Divine.

However, how does one go about testing the validity of this hypothesis?

The answer to this question depends entirely on your point of view (as does the answer to *any* question). Because of this, there will be many answers to every particular question. This is true regardless of the subject matter (scientific, religious, etc.).

When it comes down to it, religion *and* science require faith (and both use evidence--of differing kinds, of course--to answer proposed hypotheses). Because of this, there is no absolute truth in either religion or science.

The simple answer is, yes. At this pointm humans have no way to prove or disprove the existance of "God". However, evolution is more than a theory due to the fact that there is actual scientific proof that evolution exists. Whether or not it has or had anything to do with the original existance of humans, we may never know. It's unproductive to debate since there is not enough proof for a conclusive answer. Believe what you want and try not to judge others for their own beliefs. Who's to say anyone is right or wrong? However, everyone can't be right.

Well, it solely depends on a person's belief, it could be a complete hypothesis, but it makes perfect sense to a theist, It solely depends on a particular manifestation on which a person keeps a lot of faith.

Such being the case, evolution could appear more practical and god could just be a hypothesis.

Yes and no like the following. God is not a material concept. You can't weight him or her or measure his height or even look into his eyes. You can't sit down with him and ask him questions, so there is no proof of his existence.
OK. So how can you test the hypothesis of his existence? Well I think there is only one way. Faith is all about knowing the unknowable. In fact that is the substance of faith. Faith is a metaphorical leap into knowing that god not only exists, but god shapes our real lives and guilds us toward learning what life really is. Faith is a form of knowing life. Faith is living life.

That is correct. A theory based on strong evidence outways a summation of a possible but implausible speculation about origins.

A hypothesis is an educated proposed explanation that can be tested. God is conjecture at best.

kenny, fantastic answer.

And actually, gravity is a theory too but you know it exists, don't you?

Evolution is provable and has alot of evidence to back it up, god isn't and doesn't.
