They do have the right to say what they want, if they want to boycott Harry Potter then let them all they are doing is making it more popular by protesting it. They have the right to say its evil and protest it, but on the other hand you have the right to ignore them and what they say. Think of when the Da Vinci Code came out, how many people protested that? I went to see it because a church arcoss the road from the Movie theater was protesting handing out books called The Real Da Vinci Code, I read the book and then saw the movie, I thought the movie did a great job, it was very entertaining, but thats all. If people want to believe whatever they read and see let them. I want to see the people that believe that the Justice League is real and run around in spandex all the time.

I hate to point it out to you but many Christians don't care if they have the right to do something or not. They try to force everyone to do as they do whether that person wants to or not.
Just look at what they're doing in the gvt. There's an uproar about gay marriage, abortion, and attempts to force prayer and the teaching of Intelligent Design in schools. The banning of books they don't agree with is one of the least of the things they're attempting to do.
It's very disturbing. And it's one of the reasons why the religious and religion should NEVER be allowed a foothold in any gvt.
If the religious had their way, freedom would be banned and anything against the bible would be illegal. The thought that, if that should happen, they could have the ability to start doing things like book burning, the burning of heretics, etc, again is just terrifying.
They don't seem to realize that once you start down the slippery slope of banning certain things they don't like... eventually it WILL come to that point.
Ever watch V for Vendetta? Where the religious had far too much power? I could see that happening in real life if the religious get their way.
Terrifying.
It's the reason why people need to continue to fight this behavior. The free countries were not built on religion, they were built on FREEDOM of religion. And if people start to give in to Christianity on it's demands, that freedom will disappear.

I know, that is what made me ask the Harry Potter question. Growing up my mother hated them...I would check them out from the library and read them in my room. My dad, a preacher, was more open minded and will still watch the movies with me if I ever ask him to. I added this comment to the question I asked-When Bewitched, which my mother the Harry Potter hater, loves, came out, did it get this much criticism? All the fairy tales we grew up on have magic in them. It doesn't mean by reading them or Harry Potter that I am going to run off and start practicing witchcraft. They are just good literature.

As a witch let me apologize for all the lives torn apart by Harry Potter, I know those little christians must have spent many a long night learning demonic conjurations from these books in which we have chosen to hide the age-old secrets of our magickal knowledge.

Sorry, If Harry Potter or an Ouija Board control you it is not because of demons. It is because you are unstable and weak minded. Period !

To be honest, they don't care whether they have the right or not. The sort of people who want to ban books, or even burn them, only use religion as an excuse for their hatred and intolerance.

unfortunately, they think they HAVE the right to decide what others do and think. Don't forget that these are the same people who think creationism should be taught in Science class instead of biology and geology

Maybe they are expressing their opinions and belief just like you. I don't think anyone is trying to attempt to legislate it through Yahoo Answers.
