It is teh mysticism. I too think its evil influenced and have never watched it and would not let my kids.
There are too many other uplifting things out there that help you keep your focus on the things of heaven rather than the things of darkness that are masked over by things that are called good but are actually evil.
Remember, in the last days good will be called evil and evil will be called good.

And the ones that think Harry Potter is bad at the same time glorify the Narnia books, just because they parallel stories in the Bible.
In my town, when a Potter book comes out, they put little tracts in them that tell the kids what they are reading is evil. But, they have the Narnia books in the "Christian literature" section at Books a Million and everyone thinks that's hunky dory.
Um, am I missing something here? Narnia has all sorts of Pagan themes, creatures, and magical elements.
Pay no attention to these people. I love Harry Potter and Narnia both. People who can't distinguish fantasy from reality are not people to pay any heed to anyway.

It wouldnt be such a big deal if Harry Potter wasnt so famous. When something gets big and may pose a threat to the Church, they say that it is evil. Also it deals with magic, they think that too many people will start to believe in it that it is real. They for some reason tend to belive that some people will believe anything that they read.

Satanic, look what God had to say about witch craft in the Old Testament,
Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
Deuteronomy 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Samuel I 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
Micah 5:12 And I will cut off witchcrafts out of thine hand; and thou shalt have no more soothsayers:
God was finish with King Saul for seekng the witch of Endor
Chronicles I 10:13 So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the LORD, even against the word of the LORD, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to inquire of it;

Like it was mentioned many times "they have to much time in their hands". I'm sorry but i've had many arguments with christians before about this same topic and it seems ridiculous that you guys (or those of you who do) wast your time on what other people like to belief or entertain themselves with when what they should be worrying about is about what they belief and how meaningful this is to them. Ignorance creates hate, unfortunately this isn't that case because they're not ignorant they know it means nothing, the reason that they make such a big deal out of it is simply because they can't belief that there are people who don't agree with them, read the bible and don't spend half their lives in church. Not everyone in the world is the same, we're all individuals with different beliefs and ideas, so for those of you who don't think like this worry about your own beliefs and let the rest of us live in peace. Thanks for asking this question....

I'm glad to see christians for Harry Potter, because I think it's a bit rediculous to be against it.
One reason some Christians are against Harry Potter is because it 'promotes whichcraft'. Which, like you, I think is silly because it's just a story.
Not to mention, if it was a popular book about judism there would be no conflict, so if people really want to see wich craft as a religous matter, then they should be just as accepting of that than christianity, catholicism, and judism.

The 'theme' of the movie is spiritism, something the Bible warns against practicing. the movie could encourage immature ones to try and practice magic. It plays into the hands of Satan, who is still the 'ruler' of this world, and has the power to make magic actually happen.
(Galatians 5:19-21) Now the works of the flesh are manifest, and they are fornication, uncleanness, loose conduct, 20 idolatry, practice of spiritism, enmities, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, contentions, divisions, sects, 21 envies, drunken bouts, revelries, and things like these. As to these things I am forewarning YOU, the same way as I did forewarn YOU, that those who practice such things will not inherit God’s kingdom.

Because they are weird. This came up in one church i was going to at one stage and i left because of it, some people just take some stuff waaaaay too seriously and its not just christians. However combine this seriousness with some sort of power of a priest or preacher then you get a whole lot of people leaving just as serious and adopting those beliefs.
In effect, brainwashing.

It's sad to say but some Christians are against everything and will argue about everything... What's even worse is that we are to be just like Jesus himself.. Peace be with you all your days...

Because it's about magic. Some Christians equate that with witchcraft because the women are called witches and the men are called wizards. I think they're all nuts. It's just entertainment.
