I was getting very sexually explicit prank phone calls from a male, and I finally asked the police to intervene. They have traced the calls. They got a subpenoa and verizon had to turn over the phone records. Now I know what his phone number is and where they are coming from. I do not know his name until they match my phone records with him to prove he is the one making the obscene phone calls.
Does anyone know what happens now. The police have been really great about helping me get to the end of this. I am scared to face this person because of the sexually explicit nature of his calls. I feel ashamed. What happens now? Do we go to court. Do they just simply tell him to knock it off. Will he be arrested?
I probably should have asked the investigator, but was so freaked when they told me they had his phone number I forgot.

I was getting 20 or 30 calls a day. At first, I thought the person knew me, but now I doubt it.

You should write down the questions and call the investigator to ask for specifics.

It depends on the statute in your state, but yes, harassment is generally a punishable offense. You may go to court, but most cases (90%) generally plea out, so it isn't likely. You may be asked to give some sort of sworn statement, but they will let you know.

I know that I would be freaked out, too. You should look into talking to someone about everything.

If they can prove who was making the calls then they may charge him. The problem we run into is that sometimes there are 2-3 males living at the address where the calls were coming from and if all are denying making the calls then it is tough to charge someone. The officer will probably keep you informed if he/she makes and arrest, but if you don't hear anything then find out who she/he is call and him/her. The good news is that it has been my experience that even if we can't charge anyone the phone calls usually stop.

best to check with the police. but if he phones again let a personal attack alarm (or 'rape alarm') off down the phone. he won't know what hit him.

just be glad that they helped you.

I've had worse happen to me and the police never done s*#t!!!!

Don't worry too much, just take it as it comes. I doubt he will get locked up but they may encourage you to apply for some kind of AVO so that he will stop doing it.

it is a crime against the state after you reported it.
