I think there's a problem with having sex with strangers, period. But, yes, it is also dangerous. Condoms are generally pretty effective, (99% if used correctly) but there is always SOME risk, outside of abstinance. However, it's not sex with condoms that's causing the spread of diseases, it's those that are having sex WITHOUT them.

Cold sores are considered herpes so take those out of the equation and that ratio would improve. I also highly doubt AIDS is going to increase so rapidly after a steady decline. According to the stats, only 1 million people out of 300 million have AIDS in 2006. I remember media outlets back in the early 90s telling everyone 1 in 8 people will have AIDS by now. Matter of fact, check the stats. Less that 1% of North Americans get AIDS each year.
Stop scaring kids with all of that conspiracy junk.

Im an older person. I supose I have some perspective.
The seventies were all about free love.
The 80's (given the big baby boom) were all about contraception.
The nineties were all about birth control and condoms to prevent std's.
Now,,...........we are lighning up on the whole Roe v Wade thing.
I have seriously mixed emotions on this issue, but remain steadfastly pro choice.
If you are having trouble keeping yourself fed and housed, you probably shouldn't adopt a cat. If you suddenly find yourself pregnant, your options narrow.
I will not put my self in any other woman's shoes.
I have a kid with a genetic life threatening disease, and the discarded tissue from lives that would be tragic, seems apt. The cycle of life.
Having these kids..........so problematic........woman who couldn't make it alone suddenly has a child..........Not good for mom or baby.
Not all that helpful to society.
I just firmly believe that my right to choose what I do with my body is covered under the Constitution.
And that is as it should be.

There are two types of herpes simplex virus: HSV-1 and HSV-2. Both virus types can cause sores around the mouth (herpes labialis) and on the genitals (genital herpes). Cold sores are caused by the herpes simplex virus (HSV).
Cold sores sometimes called fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open, leak a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. They usually heal in several days to 2 weeks.
The herpes simplex virus usually enters the body through a break in the skin around or inside the mouth. It is usually spread when a person touches a cold sore or touches infected fluid—such as from sharing eating utensils or razors, kissing an infected person, or touching that person's saliva. A parent who has a cold sore often spreads the infection to his or her child in this way. Cold sores can also be spread to other areas of the body.
Luckly there is a cure for herpes https://tr.im/70f88

If people were aware of sex we wouldn't have to live in fear. Using condoms is not considered as safe sex. Although condoms reduce the risk, don't rely on it. Remember all it takes to get HIV is that one teeny- tiny little virus and bam! you're ruined for sure [you actually think a condom will protect that?]
And why would you have sex w/ random people. Make sure you're aware of your partners sex history. It's better if you have sex with a virgin than w/ a person who already had sex before. And people who are just plain messed up, don't disrespect other ppl by raping them - you'll scar them for life.

I don't think having sex with a condom makes it totally safe. I haven't and don't plan to have sex with someone I don't know. It seems a lot of people do engage in "risky" sex, with multiple people over time...which can be dangerous. It's important to be honest with the person you are sleeping with, especially if you have contracted some sort of disease. Hopefully people can take responsibility for their own sexual health so they don't make the problem worse than it already is.

I watched a news report today regarding aids and the percentages of different people with the disease and it is staggering. It is very important to always use protection with a new partner, and when beginning a new relationship, both parties should go and get tested before having unprotected sex. Don't have one night stands, and know your partners sexual history before getting too involved.

The question would require a logical answer. The asker pointed out that sex is dangerous. It always has been. It will continue to be dangerous citing the fact that people have sex with strangers.

There is a huge problem with people having sex with people they don't know. I wish it was the law to have to wear condoms around your neck!
