It's kind of annoying because sometimes I can't get back to sleep. I always go pee before bed and try not to drink a bunch either. What might cause this? I don't have frequent urination during the day, and I know it's not a bladder infection (I've had those before and they suck!). Is it just how my body works? I can't remember the last time I slept a full night without waking up to pee.

My gyno has asked me before if I might have diabetes because I also get frequent yeast infections. However, she never offers to test me for it... so I don't know. It doesn't run in my family.

You shouldn't accuse people of having STDs if you cannot even spell them correctly.

Urinating too often can indicate several serious medical conditions. Some possibilities include urinary tract infections, bladder conditions (e.g. interstitial cystitis), kidney conditions (e.g. nephritis), or prostate conditions (e.g. BPH). Also possible are metabolic conditions such as Type 1 diabetes, Type 2 diabetes, or diabetes insipidus. Seek prompt professional medical advice about urination symptoms. (Source: WD Writers).

It could be the way your body works -- if you don't have to go frequently during the day, it's probably not a bladder problem per se, although you could have an imbalance of the hormone that regulates urine production. There's a hormone called "anti-diuretic hormone" (or ADH) that basically tells your kidneys to shut down and stop making as much urine when your body needs to conserve water. Most people automatically produce a lot of this hormone at night, which explains why they can sleep for 8 hours without having to pee even though they could never wait that long during the day... but if your body is off on that cycle, you could be producing as much or more urine during the night than you are during the day. This type of hormonal imbalance is thought to be one major cause of bed-wetting in children, but even though you're waking up in time to go to the bathroom instead of wetting the bed, you could still have something like this.
Ask your doctor about this -- if there's a chance this might be the problem, there's a medicine you can take that's basically an artificial version of ADH, and that could make you have to go less at night. Good luck... I know this must be really annoying for you, and I hope you're able to figure something out to help!

you can get a free screening from any of your local health fairs if you want to find out if you are suseptible to diabetes. blood sugar levels are what as to be checked. the gyn may not have what s needed.to do the test. using the bathroom during the night is normal, but may be something you want toi ask a family dr about and he'll probably be able to test for diabetes. a single test will not work, but several times over a couple months gives the pattern of your blood sugsr range.
urinatiuon is telling you that your kidneys are working, but you may have a weak bladder and that may be the reason you have to go at night. during the day you just don't notice the frequency as much.

Yes! I'm like that! I think it's just a routine you ge yourself into without knowing it. And as for waking up during the night and you have to wee cause you can't get to sleep... how annoying is that. Thank god my house has a toilet up the hall not to far away. Before i brought my house when i lived with mum my bedroom was upstairs it drove me nuts everynight waking up walking down the stairs weeing walking back up the stairs going back to sleep.
I worked out that if i drank after 8 i would wee more then once a night so i have cut back big time before bed. Hot summer nights are a bastard cause your hot and thats all you wanna do is drink to keep yourself hydrated.... but yep im in the same boat as you. And honestly i think its just a habit.
