Would have been considered a "great" in another era? You can take past fighters and bring them forward, or vice versa. There were many fighters through the years who lived in the shadow of one of the greats. Who was best and what time would they have been the best at?

really interesting question....1 - would love to have seen ezzard charles today! he'd probably be a champ! 2 - probably holyfield in the 50's; 3 - patterson in the pre-louis era, might've been a monster, w/that peek-a-boo style and speed of his.....think those are my top 3!

gene tunney was a masterful boxer but had to dethrone popular jack dempsey to win the crown if he had come out in 1910 to face Black Jack Johnson he would have had a great shot at victory and would have forever been linked as an alltime great which he is but his name is not mentioned as such very often. the public took offense at his dethroning dempsey i`m pretty sure the reaction to dethroning Johnson would have been a little more favourable.

I would like to see holyfield go back in time to the rocky marciano era or ali era. Holyfield was a true warrior in his prime. I would have like to see him fight against marciano or foreman in his prime. Even Holyfield vs Joe frazier, ken norton or larry holmes in his prime. Maybe he wouldnt be the best of them but he would make some good fights.
