there is a lot of research on job satisfaction - but nobody ever looks at how people's lives are affected by their job. do you have any stories about how your job affected / hurt your life? (or improved it? )

depending on the location of the project and the composition of my team, my job could make me very depressed. this was more of an issue than the work itself - though dull work was depressing.

I used to work in retail and often had to deal with completely ridiculous customers. Sometimes I would get so angry at how they treated me that I would not be able to leave it at work and would think about it at home. I'd come home and replay it over and over and get more and more mad and annoyed that so many stupid people are out there. I know I should have just forgot about it and realized that some people are just plain rude, but sometimes it's hard to not take those attacks personally. I'd have to say it added to my stress levels when customers were rude. It also didn't help when my coworkers were morons either and I usually had to fix their mistakes. But.... that's retail, and I don't plan on going back... That's why I'm in college!

My job made me suffer 2 1/2 years of very bad depression, which also effected my marriage.
I have had to resign because of it, now i'm trying to rebuild my career in a job i really enjoy.

caused divorce. have since learned to relax, and leave work problems AT WORK! do yoga or aromatherapy.
