Ex-Lax food is one solution; but I'd go more with Judy's suggestion of food coloring in the sandwich which would identify the culprit and allow the management to can him.

That sucks if you are hungry now no excuse but maybe the culprit is hungry and has no money leave a note saying if you are hungry please let us know and we will help but don't steal our lunches we need to eat also. if someone comes forward see what you can do to help we never know what is going on in someones life it's probably a starving college kid we know it's hard for them to eat with tuition and all. Putting things in the food would make us as bad as the thief if nothing else the note will make the eprson think twice before they get in your lunch. Have you ever noticed who doesn't bring lunch with them or who spends a lot of time hanging around the fridge play detective

Don't prank...I had this happen at a place where I worked, for weeks people kept having their lunches stolen. The management put up a sign on the fridge door to ask the person to stop stealing lunches...turned out it was a lady whose husband had left her and she was barely getting by supporting herself and kids alone. She was hungry!
Your case could just be a thief with no real reason for stealing, but start out trying to leave a note where they will see it.

Could it be that this person is hungry and embarrassed to admit it to everyone? I know our first reaction is to get angry and try to teach him or her lesson, but you really don’t know if the person is doing it out of desperation. I would bring another lunch (without pranks) and tape a note to it saying; enjoy!

Make a good looking sandwich with a nice piece of ham sticking out and put some dog sh*t inside the sandwich and hope that the thief picks your lunch the next time.

Go buy a high-quality dog food, (the one's with real vegtables in it)
Place it in a container, Lable it something delicious (Minestrone Soup, Casserolle, whatever) and take a photo if the container next to the empty can.
Wait till it's eaten, Place the photo on the fridge. You might never find out who it was, but it should stop them taking other people's food.

This happened a few years ago where I worked and the guys made a feces sandwich complete with lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayo and when the guy doing it complained to managment about someone packing a feces sandwich in their lunch and putting it in the fridge. He was fired and the rest of us got yelled at but no one ever ate another persons lunch after that.

What about setting up a video camera instead of playing a prank. That way you can see you the culprit is and find out WHY they are stealing food.
