First, sprinkle a generous amount of baking powder into each shoe and leave overnight. The next day, remove all the baking powder from the shoes. They should be good as new! If you don't like that idea, try putting a dryer sheet (such as Bounce) into each shoe overnight, and they should be fresh smelling by morning.

I've had Sketchers before too and they do STINK noticeable compared to other brands. The stink does come from bacteria and sweat (allows them to thrive in moisture). It must be the materials used to make Sketchers shoes - something in the sole, the interior material, and the top mesh that's supposed to allow the shoes to "breath". Something in them allows for bacteria to fester and thrive (more so than other brands). It's been years since I've owned a pair, and they have not changed the materials they use to make their shoes. I've seen these complaints on Zappos and Amazon reviews of Sketchers shoes as well. This tells me they don't care to acknowledge this.

Did they get excessively wet on the inside? They might have molded. If they're sneaker type shoes, put them through the washer and then dry them with towels. That should help them out a lot. You want to eliminate what is causing the odor and not just cover up the smell, because the bacteria can cause fungus on your feet.

My Skechers Go Walk are so comfortable but they absolutely stink after a couple of months wear. I don't have this problem with any of my other shoes. I have tried spraying them with everything to get rid of the smell but nothing works. What a shame the product has such a terrible problem.

Ive never had stinky shoes before, I always wear socks and usually wear shoes till they wear out, literally years. I have a pair of slip on sketchers memory foam sole shoes that are about 4 months old and they STINK, to the point that its embarrassing to take them off in public. Its not my feet, its these god awful shoes.... Its unfortunate cuz they are comfortable!

It may be the material used to make the shoe. I had a pair of shoes (Rockport) that got a horrible foot odor in them and I never could get it out even after spraying, powdering, putting in baking soda, etc. I finallly had to throw them out.

I agree with starrwood, it's a reaction between the material of the shoes and sweat of your feet.
